Looking for a Christmas weekend getaway. No place hot!
Thinking city hotel that is decked out for the holidays.
Preferably east coast.
Any ideas??

5 star hotels are your best bet. Google is helpful.

Colonial Willamsburg, VA. There are several onsite hotels. We were there once for New Year's Eve. Beautiful!!

I work for IHG. We have hotels all over the world! How much are looking to spend? How about the InterContinental New York Barclay? Iconic hotel built in the 1920s that went through a huge massive renovation recently and is spectacular. And what better city to see decked out for the holidays! Or if you like more modern accommodations than try the InterContinental New York Times Square. You can't go wrong with either choice.

Your request is somewhat vague and leaves open a multiplicity of options.
Where do you live? How far are you willing to travel?
What is your budget?
Do you have any specific city interests?
I am guessing you are not traveling with children, as my recommendations are adult-oriented.
What kind of style do you prefer? I like historic and grand buildings. Here are a few of my favorites:
Ideas near Philly:
Small city: Bethlehem, PA--Historic Hotel Bethlehem
Very big city: New York, NY-- Plaza Hotel but many other great choices
Philly: Marriott Downtown or Four Seasons
Small town: Cape May, NJ---Congress Hall
Other great PA choices, non-city:
Poconos area: Skytop Lodge
Bedford: Bedford Springs Hotel
On my list for someday:
Greenbrier, WV
The Homestead, VA
Have fun planning!

The Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor near DC does A LOT of Christmas decorating and activities. ALso, The Biltmore in Ashville, NC and The Jefferson in Richmond, VA. Just a few ideas off the top of my head!

I second the suggestion above also the M G M GRAND HOTEL AND CASINO at national harbour. Their is a Christmas show going on in the M G M THEATRE, they are up the street from the Gaylord where they have a nice display, lots of restaurants and the wheel like most cities.

As a proud West Virginian, I agree The Greenbrier is a beautiful resort. Driving up and seeing the resort, especially at night, is breathtaking. The grounds, as well as the interior are always meticulously groomed and decorated for the season.
The resort offers many entertainment and shopping options, and when it comes to food options, you can go casual, or fine dining, depending on how much you want to pay. While I have not actually stayed in the resort; nothing is cheap there. It is a beautiful place, with a legacy of prestige and grandeur.
The 5 star resort is also very OLD, and there are visible aging signs in some rooms that guests are not happy about; heating and plumbing, bathroom fixtures, sheetrock, tile, carpet, drapes, etc.
