@moonandthestars It is a hairdryer that also curls, straightens and smooths your hair by adding different attachments.
It is not a flat iron, but will smooth curly hair, but not make it 100% straight.
Dyson does sell a hair straightener for $500. It is not on sale. Your licensed hairdresser can get it for a discount. If you ask, he/she might be willing to order it for you at the discounted rate.

@Carmie Thanks for the info. Still confused, but less so To add to my confusion when I see the TSV on the front page there is a sold out banner, but when I click it, it's not sold out.
I do see the dyson has the set listed for the same price - I think it includes all the same things.
The hair straightener is out of this world expensive!! I really need to focus on my hair health, etc., however the reviews are very mixed and I need to be conviced that it's really markedly better for my hair.
The tsv is like a curling want and it's a blow dryer in the sense that it's like a dryer with attached brush or comb ... am I understanding this now?
Do you have a dyson?

@moonandthestars You'rewelcome. I personally do not own a Dyson hair product. I have two vacuum cleaners, though.
I am the owner of a hair salon. I no longer work there, but I rent out stations to other hair stylists. A few of them use Dyson hair tools. I have used them, but not on my own hair.
My hair is stick straight and doesn't hold a curl. Currently it waist length and I wear it pulled back into a chignon. I am lazy. One of these days, I will again get it cut real short and will need to use hair tools to keep it looking decent.
The TSV is made to dry the hair until it is a bit moist. Then you use an attached tool to finish drying and styling. It's it not made to use an attached tool on sopping wet hair.
The Dyson website has videos on how to use the Dyson and has many good tips on styling.

@moonandthestars I have both the Dyson hairdryer and the Dyson cordless flat iron. Since I shower and cleanse my hair at night, before bed, I almost never use the dryer, but when I do, it is very, very fast, so long as all I'm doing is drying. If I am trying to use a round brush and get the ends turned under, I have to slow down the airspeed and heat, and it takes me about 10 minutes instead of 5. So most of the time, I let my hair air dry overnight, and style the next day if I need to. For just turning the ends under and overall smoothing, the Dyson cordless flat iron is remarkably easy to use, and very, very effective, the fact that it's cordless lets me get to all my hair, even at the back of my head, without having to fight with a cord and where it's plugged in and switching from hand to hand to try to reach it all and getting tangled, etc. Just turn it on, wait a minute for it to heat up to temp, and use, switch hands if needed, reach all around, get it all done in just a few passes, and turn it off. I can probably use it half a dozen times or more before it needs charged again. Needless to say, I use a heat protector product on my hair if I am going to use either blow dryer or flat iron.
My advice is, if you only want to buy ONE Dyson hair tool, get the cordless flat iron. Unless you have HUGE amounts of long, coarse hair that takes an hour to blow dry, the Dyson dryer is probably not worth it. However, if you never style your hair after it's dry, if it always just dries perfectly, then the dryer alone is a good bet.
Now, on the subject of the TSV which may or may not really be sold out: I was a little tempted at midnight last night, so I read reviews. Oh, my, am I glad I kept my wallet closed! Nearly every bad review said one or the other of the two same complaints. Either it quit working VERY soon after purchase, or it worked and curled someone's hair, which then went straight again within an hour or two. That tells me that the heat they are using to dry the hair and put a curl into it with air drying alone is not high enough. If I go to the trouble to curl my hair, it needs to last more than an hour, otherwise why bother? My Calista AirGlide gave me nice spiral curls at noon today, and eight hours later, I still had good curl, somewhat more relaxed, but most certainly still visible soft spirals. That tool cost me less than a hundred bucks. The TSV seemingly does not work as a curling iron, and is less efficient as a dryer than the Dyson drier, which is cheaper, so I don't know why anyone would buy it.
If you do, I certainly hope it performs better for you than it seems to for the reviewers I read, and that you consider it worth the price.
