The new mantra for QVC hosts is ----"go to your computer or use an app to order"----

It is said with every presentation now.

I do not want to go to a computer to order when I am watching tv.

If I choose to shop on line that is a horse of a different color.

And you don't need to. They're just letting people know that the phones might be busy and there are alternatives.

I order from QVC a LOT and even if I'm watching TV, I use my smartphone to place the order, not my actual phone.

I wouldn't bother booting up a computer or tablet to order, but my smartphone is always on. And if I use my smartphone to order instead of my telephone, I can go through a rebates site and get cash back for every order I place.

So keep ordering with your phone, I'll keep ordering with my smartphone and we'll both get what we want the way we want it.

There's no harm in the hosts reminding people to use a computer or app instead of a telephone.

And in case you haven't noticed, when you try to order by phone now, no matter what is being offered, you will get a message that tells you they are very busy and suggests you go to automated ordering.

However, if you don't buy that line, and hang on,  you are put right through to a customer service rep.

I don't know if this is to fool you into thinking they are busy, or just to allow them to reduce the number of CS reps they employ now. Either way it annoys me no end.

I am sure QVC would love to reduce the expense of their order entry and customer service people.  If they make the move to use people overseas, then I am done with QVC.

And if you think about it, it's the same with the other shopping channels also.

If I'm interested in a certain product or vendor I prefer to watch the on-air presentations and demonstrations rather than strictly order online (get more info on the merchandse that way instead of reading a brief online description ) ...But I never speak to the CS Rep ---I use automated ordering...simple,fast, and efficient....best of both worlds......don't have to turn on the computer or bring  up an app ....

But I'm with @Perkup  I wonder if (the lines are very busy) is a bit of sales ploy sometimes....and electronic ordering saves QVC $$$ instead of hiring operators and they tend to include the electronic and social media data in their financial reports

In this day and age, that's a lot more realistic than "run to your phone lines."

I only order online. I hate ordering by phone.
