@TX-starlight  I agree. It aggravates me so much that I mute the "persistent umm offenders" and will not purchase anything when they are on the air. One particular vender is the absolute worst. I find it unbelievable she was a newscaster in a previous career with that awful habit.

My daughter attended a magnate highschool. When they were required to give a speech or an extemporaneous talk, if they "ummed" at all, they failed.

The same thing applied to me back in the 70"s and 80's. I wish we could go back to those "rules" of education.

@CatLoverDogsToo, a "magnate highschool"? Wow, that is impressive. :-)

No, Caroline is not as bad as Shawn. I counted 20 ums and ers in a two minute clock presentation one night. These are college educated women. You would think they could think fast on their feet. Glad Shawn is out for maternity leave. Hope she likes it so much she doesn't come back!!

I assume you meant "vendor".  Not sure about "magnate highschool".  I've heard of magnet high schools.  What's a magnate highschool?  How is it different from a regular high school?

My 40 year old niece left me a phone message with several UM's including the first word and, most humorously of all, just before she said who it was!

 "Um, this is um. . . Sally. . . !
