Rachel is no slouch when it comes to fast talking. Amy is the most difficult for me to understand. I love fashion, so I watch her a lot.

Hosts seem to have time to talk about many things, except when the vendor appears. Then, they rush the vendor through, like, explain all this to me in a minute.

AGREE, Rachel B wins in the speed talking category.  She then stands one foot away away from from the unfortunate guest and proceeds with her "sign language" with her hands that is supposed to ????  And she lives for the eating camera shots!   Then she points so that the director and cameraman do not miss the thing she wants to shown on camera!

@NYwoman, yes, and Alberti with his food, runs right up and sticks his face and food right in the camera. Smiley Happy

I wonder what happens to the hosts over time.  When Alberti first started, I was so impressed with his demeanor and knowledge.  I think he was selling jewelry.  But so many hosts start out that way and just morph into something unwatchable.  Why???

Easy ... these hosts aren't just freelance do whatever they want people.

They are employees with bosses and other people they report to ... and those "someones" sit with hosts and play back shows to critique them, and impress what they should be doing differently to be more effective.

Sometimes "effective" is really just annoying, but that's been discussed many times already.

While hosts supposedly don't have sales quotas, if enough sales aren't being generated during their shows, "someone" is watching.

I've traveled to 47 states. There are countless speeds people talk, some slower, some very fast. There is an endless number of accents, speech patterns, and pronunciations.  It is what it is.

And David slurs and the tail end of the sentence gets real quiet. Can't understand him.

I've also noticed David does drown his words into his throat more &  more.  I've stopped watching many of his shows, but when I do see a show I'm interested in and he's hosting, I find I don't understand a lot of what he's saying.  It always comes when he's trying to compete with the brand rep to be funny or clever, but remembers he's said that phrase a hundred times before.

ITA .... but am not sure "speed talking" is even a real thing.

Having said that, I've know people who were Sound Editors that have to accelerate a show that recorded for one hour and two minutes to be sped up or edited to fit the hour allotted by the network, or to make room for the commercials to fit in seamlessly.

The only person I think sometimes talks fast is Rick, if he's especially excited about an item. But I don't have trouble understanding him. When I see "speed talking" I think of auctioneers.

The hosts that are frequent "interrupters" are annoying. Please let the reps finish their sentences! Let them tell viewers about the product; that's their job! Hosts' side stories can wait.

And when they talk at the same time, I don't know what either one of them said.
