I'm smh at all the posters scolding @Jewelrygal for her post, telling her to let it go and move on, we don't want to hear about it anymore. Rude. Know what I'm tired of? Pages and pages of nonstop criticism of hosts (one in particular) that never end. I'd like to tell them to "move on" and "get on with your life", or better yet just don't watch them!  Yes, I know they have right to post all of it...and so does the OP here.

I am also surprised by the rude responses.  It amazes me how people say move on but yet have time to read a thread that they obviously have no interest in.  The title of the thread specifically mentions hosts.  I am sure I will get responses saying everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Being laid off is devastating. Often those who were laid off are thought they weren't doing their job as well as others when it could have been ageism and making too much money.  All of those reasons were discussed here as possibilities.  

I do believe Carolyn (64) and Dan who will be 62 this October 27th, are the oldest. If someone knows any other host older than Dan besides Carolyn, please post.

They can't really call it laid off, when they hired a bunch of new people.  They were fired, and were some of the very best.  I think they fired Carolyn because she is overweight.  Either that or the squirel thing.  I am still so upset that they fired her, that I won't watch any more.

A layoff is when you are overstaffed or there is a shortage of work.  There must be at least 10 (annoying) new hires on there.

@TlS, your supposition for the reason of Carolyn's lay off is offensive.

And for those still unable or unwilling to grasp the difference between being laid off or fired, just ask someone that was laid off.

The layoffs of Carolyn and Dan had nothing to do with any new host hires.

The were laid off on February 28th.

The most recent group of new hosts have been on for nearly one year.  There have been no new hosts since those layoffs.

Carolyn and Dan were the targets of necessary cost reductions, along with many, many coworkers.  The workforce desperately needed to be realigned and right-sized.
