In the last two days, I have been getting notifications of the same "heart" or "mentioned" in a post more than once. Is this happening to anyone else? Not really a big deal except for the times you didn't want to get "mentioned" the first time, lol!

Re: Double Notifications?

[ Edited ]

I have. Sometimes, one is for a heart, and one is for a mention. Some just seem to be doubled.

Came back to ask if you've ever posted more than once on a board. ?? I have.

Seems to have been corrected in the past few days...for a while, I thought I was on a roll posting the most interesting, funniest, heart-worthy posts ever LOL!

Today I actually got five "mentioned" notifications for the same post.  This is the first time that has happened, but I often get two notifications.

@MaggieMack, @NickNack, @MacDUFF, @qualitygal,

This odd "feature" of the forums has been cropping up since last October (maybe earlier).

This was @Keyai's explanation in one Q Talk thread ("Notifications") on 10/06/15:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If someone edits a post that you were @ mentioned then you will receive multiple notifications. If your @ mention is then quoted that will also trigger additional notifications. I logged in one morning to 25 notifications from one poster who had wanted my attention, however there was only one post.
I hope my explanation makes sense."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

It seems to me one edit creates one extra notification, and then any additional edits seem to generate notifications in increasing multiples.

@dooBdoo, I think your explanation is spot on! I wouldn't normally have noticed it, but it was one of those "you've been mentioned" notifications, and when it came in again, I rolled my eyes and thought, "Oh, great! Here we go again!" Fortunately, it wasn't new, just a reiteration from the edited original post. I just looked now and discovered that the post has been edited. You awesome little sleuth, you! Woman Wink

You're welcome, @NickNack!

Thanks, @MaggieMack!  One of my favorite parts of working in IT is the detective work.  I don't always find the answer, but the "sleuthing" can be intriguing.

For quite a while multi-notifications were happening even WITHOUT a post being edited.  I can't tell whether this has truly been fixed -- perhaps it was done during the recent "fix" to the notifications feature.

Hi @dooBdoo

I just now got TWO notifications on the one heart you just gave me.  Looks like the notification "fix" isn't quite complete.
