Just ordered the Travelon RIFD wallet...

Does anyone have this one and can comment...

Hoping when I go to some shopping malls this will protect my store credit cards...

Was going to order the bag that was shown today... However when I saw the wallet thought it would be more practical as I have many bags I switch to...

Would love to hear from anyone that has this and can comment?

I think at this point very few people actually have the credit card with the chip. I know I don't. They're making a big deal out of the RIFD protection because they want to sell wallets and doodads to shield credit cards.

Re: Just ordered the Travelon RIFD wallet...

I got a chip on two credit cards and one will not issue it. I asked, just about begged and they said "we don't HAVE TO DO IT' and until we do we are not issuing them. That was Chase. My other two cards American Express and Citi Bank sent a replacement right away. I only carry one card with me at all times. The others stay home. Interesting the only time I have been "hacked" is with the stay home card.

On Ebay I bought some sleeves, basically white envelopes lined with tin foil (well it looks like tinfoil).

I have not bought wallets or bags yet. I feel that if I carry something someone can still take it from me by shoving me or pushing me down. Happened to my mother.

Re: Just ordered the Travelon RIFD wallet...

Currently, my drivers license (GA), passport, AX, VI, DC & BofA ATM card (my ATM card is NOT a debit card by my request) all have a chip. I have duplicates of the three credit cards and the ATM card without the chip. Those I use here in the US. Much safer to use the ones without the chips here.

Your bank and credit card company will issue you cards without the chip by request. Not so with the passport and drivers license.

For the most part, if traveling outside the US, particularly in Europe, your cards will need a chip to be used. Also, if you plan to use an ATM in most countries, you have to have a numerical pin, not an alpha one AND the machines read the chip.

A year and a half ago, I was traveling in Europe with a friend. Somewhere between the time she left JFK and arrived in Vienna, she was skimmed. Didn't realize it until customs checked her in. Her 'passport' had already been used in New Zealand. Also, her bank account had been wiped out, and lots of charges on her AX & VI cards. She still had ALL the actual cards on her.

Store credit cards don't generally have a chip.

I would never carry a wallet. Haven't had one in more years than I can remember. I have a small card case that I carry on my person; only reason it's RFID protected is because of my drivers license and medical insurance cards. Both my insurance and Rx cards have chips.

A wallet is nothing but a pickpocket's dream cache. It's the ONLY thing they're interested in that you carry in your purse. It's the ONLY thing worth taking. Someone could take my entire purse, and I'd be no worse for it, since I never carry anything of value in it when traveling.

lovestodance - I hope you like your new wallet. I saw the new travelon purse today and thought about ordering. I like to carry my wallet though - I don't use those built in wallets. The bag was a little too narrow for me.

I purchased the other protection leather wallet that was offered earlier (the same co. that offers those little individual card sleeves)......I love it. It's a nice size and fits in all my bags (big and small).....I like that I don't have to use those little individual sleeves on every card.

Travelon Nylon RFID Blocking Zip Around Wallet

Dear OP,

You didn't show a picture or give an item number on the RFID wallet you bought. There are many now to select from. I bought one in red, exactly like the one above from QVC, but it wasn't from Travelon. This one is, and it's an exact duplicate, except the exterior of mine is pebble leather, this is not.

I love having it now. I first bought the purse, and I love it. I can continue to use my older wallets, and not worry about them being scanned. Plus, I find I really love Travelon bags because they are so very lightweight, they are like a feather on your shoulder. When traveling or doing a long day of shopping, I want nothing heavier to carry around. I've also bought several for gifts after women enjoyed mine and asked for the same. Then, I bought a smaller wallet, but it didn't work too well because the slits for credit cards and such were wide enough to hold my insurance and credit cards. Nice. Big mistake. Then I purchased the credit card covers that the Q sold, but the turned out to be a pain as well. The only way to go is to have an RFID wallet, or purse. But the wallet is the best security because it can be used in any bag, sometimes I just run into a store with it and my keys.

In the future, I may buy more wallets, some smaller, and just have them around for several purses, until the banks come out fully with chips in all cards, but I think that will take a while. I feel very safe with this wallet and I'm so glad I bought it and hate I spent money on those other things.

Enjoy yours, but sometime get you and RFID Travelon bag, the BEST security ! Besides, they are SO comfortable and you can wash them when they get dirty. You don't have to use the slots in them for your cards if you don't want to, I don/t. Just throw my wallet in and go !

Enjoy yours, it will give you much relief knowing no one can scan your cards !

Re: Just ordered the Travelon RIFD wallet...

I have one and got one for Christmas for all my family members as stocking stuffers and we all love them and the thought that we are protected when we are out and about. We got the sleeves but don't use them as the wallets are big enough to handle all of our cards. The wallets allow you to switch purses whenever you want and the protection is always with you.

Re: Just ordered the Travelon RIFD wallet...

I bought a cute red leather RFID wallet here on the Q last fall and am still enjoying it. Just wish it had a different coin pocket. It's hard to use. Overall the wallet fits most of my handbags so I am good to go anywhere.
