IMO - aside from just not liking the look of a huge bag - when i carry a larger bag I tend to put way too much in it and it starts to get too heavy quickly. Then there is the added weight of a large bag as well. As previously stated - i will be passing on this trend.
Of course , the entire point of the fashion industry is to make people buy buy buy - so they have to keep changing "the look" and then heavily promote whatever is new so that women think they must have whatever it is.

What on earth do you need to lug around to get through the day?
I don't carry more than a small to small/medium bag ever.
A wallet, coin purse, small cosmetic case, prescription sunglasses, regular glasses, a small flashlight, two or three small medicine bottles (Motrin, allergy, other), Altoids, a pen, keys, phone, small calendar/address book, occasionally bills or other correspondence as needed, a few tissues/Q tips, small tube of hand cream/sanitizer... which is why a dinky bag won't do for me, aside from the fact that I just don't like the look of them...

Am with you on the size of the bag. I must have a large bag for all my stuff: large wallet, makeup bag, hand sanitizer, hair spray, hand lotion, kleenex, hand lotion lip gloss, powder, eyeliner pencil for touch-ups if gone all day, small phone directory, medical information, small day planner, spare keys, pens and pencils, pad of paper, hand wipes, readers, regular glasses, sun glasses and sometimes a bottle of water and small makeup bag with emergency items like, band Aids, eye drops, Blistex (for fever blisters for lips), cuticle scissors, small tooth brush and paste, dental floss, paper clips, safety pins, toothpicks, etc... Yes, I know stuff I will never use! Problem is, I'll need it if I don't have it - You know, Murphy's Law
Small bags just don't do it for me as you can see. Do I need therapy?

You got that right!

Wow! No, you don't need therapy, you're merely "prepared"...

Each to their own, but I've tried small bags and I just don't like them. I also don't like constantly rearranging my stuff in a too small bag as I have to do a search and discover mission every time I want to find something. I guess I also just prefer the look of a medium or larger bag. One thing for sure, you will never, ever see me with a cross body.

After back problems, my chiropractor handed me my bag and said "no!". I thought "Why am I carrying a big wallet with several store credit cards, a full stack of checks and register which I never use, and a bag big enough to mix it all up in? To work? I'm not even going shopping! Now, all the checks, except two, wallet and register stay home. I have a scanproof card case the size of my palm with what I need daily; debit, driver's license, and insurance cards, two lipsticks, and a little candy. Most places will look you up by your phone number, anyway should you make a stop after work, and I no longer need a big bag.

They really did miss the mid size. I'm on the hunt too.

I am obviously not in style. I don't carry anything. I wear a vest with lots of pockets. As for the heels. Those who wear the highest of high will regret it. I shortened my arch, cannot wear flats easily and have had some problems with my feet. Minor problem yes, but if I only listened.

All it takes is one time for someone to need lotion, sunscreen, crackers, baby wipes, contact lens solution, or bug spray to feel like freaking hero.
And I carry toilet paper.

Good news!! You don't have to get it.
