Oh, forgot to answer the question about what I carry in mine Smiley Wink

At a minimum I carry:

Sunglasses in a larger, hard case; Regular glasses in a hard case; Wallet; Phone; Keys; iPad and/or Nook reader. That stuff takes up a lot of space and yes, it does get heavy. One reason I appreciate bags I can change up, like satchel to shoulder to cross-body.

I don't always need the iPad but if it's a longer day out I want it and/or the Nook. Quick trips not so much.

Exactly. Besides, some people carry "extras" such as their husband's wallet, a child's snack or toy, a printed book/magazine, etc. Not necessarily needing "diapers", but essentials that aren't their own.

I carry what works for me and don't really care if it works for others - we all have different needs and preferences.

I don't understand the need to carry a handbag that 2-3 times the size of a diaper bag. My overnighter is smaller than some of these handbags that are coming out.

The weight must be incredible, can you imagine what your back would say to you?

Yes, they are trending now but really?

The woman that came into my store recently had a handbag that seriously if she put against her upper body, should could hide behind.

It was just years ago that smaller crossbody bags were trending and now the opposite, it's almost to the point, how big can they make these and still have great sales.

For me, max is approx. 15" x 12 x 5" ....if I can't carry it in that amount of space, it doesn't need to be taken.

Why do you have to understand it? Carry what's appropriate for you and let others do the same. It's just the way it is -- not to worry.

Well said! I like large bags. I guess it all depends which age category a person is in, and where she works...and whether she goes to college, etc. I carry the usual stuff plus some snacks/lunch to work, plus water, plus some files/books when I need them, and a coffee mug on my way back home which I can pack in my large bag vs having to carry it separately along with a separate lunch bag. Hope this helps understand Smiley Wink

Recent story - I went to buy a new phone. Got a phone, car charger, and the case.... the lady told me they were out of bags!!!! So, I had to put everything in my purse but unfortunately I carried a smaller purse that time and I could barely fit all the stuff in it. Had to unpack everything at the store. Not a big deal, but just an example when a bigger bag comes in handy.

I don't know what people carry around with them. I have a tiny wallet, some kleenex, MAYBE a lipstick or a compact (maybe. . . ), an ink pen, glasses, and some Motrin in foil packets, a few hand wipes, and that's about it. What on earth do you need to lug around to get through the day?

I don't carry more than a small to small/medium bag ever.

A wallet, coin purse, small cosmetic case, prescription sunglasses, regular glasses, a small flashlight, two or three small medicine bottles (Motrin, allergy, other), Altoids, a pen, keys, phone, small calendar/address book, occasionally bills or other correspondence as needed, a few tissues/Q tips, small tube of hand cream/sanitizer... which is why a dinky bag won't do for me, aside from the fact that I just don't like the look of them...

First of all, I hate the look of an overstuffed, too-small handbag. Secondly, women who carry those teeny bags often have to carry a tote for their other things. Why do that when one bag can do it all?

I have been complaining about this too - all the bags that are coming out in the stores are either very small (71/2 to 8 in) or huge. I am shopping my closet. Thank Goodness for my large collection - I don't need to buy right now as neither really tiny or huge appeal to me. I like my purses in the 11 to 14 in range.
