Re: Quick Pot Sticker Soup

[ Edited ]

I went to Aldi's first thing this morning and was surprised that only one other customer was there.  I was able to pick up two of the Expandable Garment Racks (for only $7.99 each) and a bag of organic pears.

They had some nice ornamental plants and even some Japanese Maple trees (about 4 feet tall).  The outdoor furniture looked good.   I'll have to go back and check everything out when I have more time.

I think I saw your rug, mtc.  It looks like very nice quality.

I needed the clothing racks because I'm collecting donations of clothing, toiletries, and accessories for a ministry that helps women get back into the work force.  I receive the stuff in bags and like to hang up the clothing with hangers I bought so the ladies will have some and the ministry will not have to buy them.  (Ross's usually has some great deals on hangers, if you need any. )

I haven't taken the racks out to see how they look, but I did not need anything fancy-smancy--just something I could use to hang the clothing on as I put it on hangers and then take apart and store when not in use.

Just thinking about you & your DH.

I hope you got your washer fixed.

Hugs & prayers my Friend!

@ChiliPepper, Thank you. His day has started off terrible and yesterday was one of the worst also. He is feeling better now though.

The appliance repairman just left and the old agitator washing machine is up and running. It was the lid switch. It was replaced and now I have a lot of washing to do. It is my routine to wash everyday or every other day. Usually when I go to sleep there is no dirty laundry in the house, however with so much going on for me to attend to I had a very full large load in there when it stopped. Lesson learned!!!

I would like to have one of those front loaders that sit on a pedestal so the bending and reaching into the machine would be less but I have heard terrible stories. If I could find one that really performs and does not have the smelly seal problem I would go for it. Most people seem to wish they had their old one back  LOL.

Oh @tiny 2

I am so glad it is up and running.  Repair is certainly the most economical way to go!!

Whew...cross that issue off your list.  At least one less thing to tackle...

I also have heard bad stories about the front loaders.  Everyone I know that has one, regrets it.  Stinky!  For some reason the design holds the water oddly and it has a terrible odor.  I remember hearing they were addressing that.

OMG, that is so funny. I was gonna say my last washer had the lid switch go but it seemed so silly - I didn't think it would happen to you too LOL!

I never had mine fixed, I bought mine second hand & didn't want to sink a bunch of money into it. I just crammed a piece of wood it there & it worked several more years like that.

I have the front load washer & dryer - I love them!

I wasn't gonna spring for the pedestals because they wanted something like $ 200 bucks a piece for the ones that went with my set - for a drawer basically. A heavy duty drawer I must say.

I did find a deal on them & I am so glad I got them - they put everything at the correct height.

My sister's Brady Bunch new family (plus grand babies) is huge!  Every time she has them over....she has 3-4 crock pots going and an army of power cords!

Has anyone seen this elsewhere?  (Meaning cheaper???)

Dear tiny 2,

I'm glad that, once again, things are up and running in the laundry department at your house.

Mustang, VaBelle, and I all have Speed Queen products and really like them.  Mustang has had her washer and dryer combo the longest.  They are very well built and reliable.  They can last as long as 25 years.

They do have a stacked front load washer and dryer combo--but that may not be quite what you were looking for.  My last BSP (Before Speed Queen) washer was a front loader.  I absolutely hated it. It did not clean very well and was extremely noisey.  The door was beginning to sag and I knew it was only a matter of time before leaking would be in my future.  The Speed Queen washer is quieter, has a faster cycle, and cleans so much better.  The first time I washed some white kitchen towels (that had begun to look greyish) I was amazed.  They actually came out white again.

Also, I had looked at reviews of washers carried at places like Home Depot and Lowes and was concerned that it seemed like none of the national brands had very good reviews or very good warranties.  I mentioned what I had discovered on this forum and Mustang told me about Speed Queen.  I will always be grateful to her for that.  As it turned out, Mr. Writer had a colleague who had recently bought a SQ washer and dryer and he and his wife loved it as well.  Nebraska Furniture carries them and so do some local appliance companies.  Anyway, we got the SQ washer and VaBelle got a washer and dryer.
