LOADED CHEESE BALLS

[ Edited ]

12 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 t garlic powder
1 t paprika
kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper
8 slices bacon, cooked and finely chopped
1/3 cup finely chopped fresh chives
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
18 pretzel sticks

Mix together cheeses, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.  Form into 18 small balls and refrigerate until firm, 1 hour.

In a shallow bowl stir together the cooked bacon, chives and pecans.  Roll balls in mixture and insert a pretzel stick in each ball.

If not serving right away, loosely cover with plastic wrap and return to fridge.  Let sit at room temp 15 minute before serving.

I used parsley to decorate the plate - I think next time I will use watercress.

Those are no doubt  wonderful.  Love the idea of inserting a pretzel stick to use as a "handle".  Pretzel sticks could probably be employed similarly with other types of finger food.  Never thought of that.

Thanks @DiAnne!

Sounds like a quick and great appetizer recipe!   I am already looking forward to evenings out on the deck in summer with friends and family.   Will be happy to add this to things to try!  Have a great weekend!

Did you know when I was a teenager, I made all the cheese balls for Hickory Farms?   Fun fact.

We use to have a Hickory farms store in our mall, and I would always have to stop and try the samples, and of course then purchase some yummy snack I just couldn't live without !!!!!
