My tomatoes are not doing well this year either. I usually have an abundance by now. I have a few green tomatoes but only one ripe one. I think the heat got to one plant and it bit the dust. We've had temps in the triple digits and that's not good for setting blossoms.
I wish I could have a BLT for dinner (without the L).

@sharkb8 I never heard of panzanella. Looked it up. So easy and yummy. Thank you.

Oh how I wish. We LOVE homegrown tomatoes and always looked forward to an occasional BLT but we gave up years ago when the squirrels took over. Anyone have a way to protect tomato plants from squirrels? Honestly, I find it infuriating. One summer, they would take bites out of the green ones and drop them on the ground. So the squirrels won and we haven't planted tomatoes in over 5 years. I have to purchase at the farmer's markets. If you have advice, I sure would welcome it.

BLT
tomato sandwiches
cooking them down and freezing them for pasta sauce and stews
cheesesteak subs
salads
yesterday i made a persian omelet (a type of shakshuka/eggs in purgatory).....caramelized onions, garlic, salt, pepper, turmeric, saffron, lots of fresh tomato, and sunnyside up eggs sitting on the top. dig in with some nice flatbread.

Breaded tomatoes: cut ripe, juicy tomatoes into bite size pieces into a greased casserole dish, tear leftover biscuits or slices of white bread into large pieces, add sugar, salt, pepper, stir together, top with at least half stick of butter on top. Bake about 40-45 min at 350.
My family always used day old biscuits, bacon drippings for more flavor, and probably a full stick of butter.

It had been a cold, wet Spring here. So, no tomatoes yet.

@QPrincess so sorry about your squirrels! I don't have a solution! We have that problem with chipmunks. They only go after the cherry tomatoes, eat the whole thing and leave the skins on the ground. They have so many tunnels in our yard.

Wish I had a big supply. The one that's ripening will go on a salad.
