I MADE A CHEAP,BUT YUMMY GOULASH TODAY IN THE CROCKPOT.MY 18YR OLD GRANDSON IS NOW STAYING WITH ME 5 DAYS A WEEK SO HE CAN ATTEND COLLEGE. I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A GREAT STRECHER FOR A FEW DAYS.REALLY TUNED OUT DELIC!

@Luvsmyfam   What did your Goulash consist of?  I have heard that name used for several different ypes of receipes.  We use our crockpot alot and would like a new receipe.  A Goulash sounds good to me. 

My Mom called hamburger, potatoes, onions and a gravy Goulash.

@KathyM23   I'm guessing it at least had paprika lol.

@rockygems123   I don't cook so I don't know about the paprika or spices.  I meant another dish that would be named Goulash that was different than what my Mom called Goulash.

@Luvsmyfam  DH grew up loving goulash. It was American style with elbow macaroni, beef, tomatoes, and red and green peppers. I learned to recreate it for him. I love it too!

@KathyM23  My mother was Yugoslavian and Hungarian and she put paprika on everything including french fries. She refused to make goulash for some reason and it is a classic Slavic dish, I don't know what it typically is either.

My Mom made your recipe, but called it "American Chop Suey".

My goulash consists of a cubed chuck roast, red bell pepper, onions, carrots, lots of paprika, tomato paste, and sour cream served over cooked eggs noodles.

My mom called the macaroni, ground beef, tomato,onion, ,green pepper concotion Slum Gullion. I thought she made that name up but Ive googled it before and that is British in origin ( the name, not necessarily the dish of course) Such a good comfort food.
