Sounds good. Post when you get the recipe!

Re: Dump Cakes and Dump Meals

Don't waste your money. The title of the books are a little mis-leading IMO since only a few recipes in each book are what I would call a dump recipe. Other recipes have steps in them just like most recipes do but are not dump recipes. If you want to try dump recipes just search online. There are lots of them.

Re: Dump Cakes and Dump Meals

I am one of the suckers who bought these books on the infomercial. The Dump Dinners book is more like a pamphlet and is pretty much worthless, but the Dump Cakes book is ok. Nightowlz is certainly correct that only the part of the book contains true "dump" recipes. You could find most of the recipes online.

I made a red, white and blue recipe from the book for the Fourth of July dessert and it was very good. I also made one of the coffee cake type recipes that was very good. I like these kind of recipes at the lake in the summer because I don't keep many ingredients on hand there.

If you have the Cake Doctor Cookbook, she has some dump cake recipes in it.

Sorry, I am of no help here. I can't bring myself to make anything with the word "dump" in it and serve or eat it. That just sounds so unappetizing.

Same here. Wish they would come up with some other name.{#emotions_dlg.glare}

Whoa. Okay ladies, I will search on-line. The info-mercial is somewhat misleading then. If it sounds too good to be true............

What was the reaction when she told everyone it was a dump cake?

Re: Dump Cakes and Dump Meals

I have Kathy Mitchell's "Dump Cakes and More" - I picked it up on a whim while browsing through a second-hand bookstore, and I'm glad I did; it has lots of good, easy recipes (worth the price of the book for the Peach Melba Cake alone), but only a few are actually "dump cakes" (thus the "...and More).

I'd never heard of dump dinners, so I took a look on Amazon. That book has poor reviews; apparently it's just another crock pot cookbook, and not a very good one at that. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Re: Dump Cakes and Dump Meals

I've heard of Dump Cakes forever, and have enjoyed the ones I've tasted in the past. But the Dump Dinners book sounds like something from the Honey Boo Boo tv show and my stomach is rolling just thinking about it! It's probably just crock pot recipes but all I can picture is Honey Boo Boo's mom June using her hands to smush up a lot of raw ingredients with a big jar of mayonnaise and then cooking it! That one's not for me!
