I have the Dump Cake book that I bought at Bed and Bath and it is not bad. Most recipes call for some sort of canned fruit addition. I hope this has helped you.
Thanks, I will go check out the books!

It does sound unappetizing until one realizes they mean you dump the ingredients all together into a pan.
Maybe they should call it Landfill recipes.

I have made dump cakes in the past and they are delicious. Always very moist and have fruit in them. I don't know what a dump meal is - I am assuming some sort of casserole that you just mix all the ingredients together and bake.

I saw at least one of these near the checkout stand at my super market. I am thinking about trying the dump dinners. Don't care to cook much anymore.

Oh good grief, dump cakes have been around for years, first in the 70's and they are delicious! One of my old favorites is made with apple pie filing, pecans, cake mix, and butter, it is delicious! BTW, you basically "dump" things in a pan ........... what else would you call it???
I am interesting in trying the dinners too, but I haven't seen the cookbook in my area yet!

Same here. My husband is near retiring and we just don't eat as much or make a fuss out of our dinners. I thought that maybe I'd try a cake or a meal to make things easy for me so that is why I asked. I don't want to cook much, just eat.

Some of the family favorites included 'Chilli Mac' and 'Tuna Surprise' both made in an electric skillet. One of my favorite desserts is to take 1 large box of 'cook' pudding add 2 cups of milk and cook over stove medium heat, stirring until slightly thick. Remove from heat and stir in 1 box of cake mix. Pour in to 9x13 cake pan and top with whatever you like (choc. chips, coconut, nuts, any flavor chips, cookie crumbles, crumbled candies or candy bars, etc.). Bake in oven based on normal instructions on boxed cake mix. This makes a very moist cake that does not need icing unless you want it. You can use any flavor of pudding, cake mix, and toppings to make a large variety of cakes or cake bars. This is great for bake sales and kids love to be creative with ingredients.I was making dump cakes as a young teen back in the 60's as my Grandmother taught me.
Yes, they are fine for a 1 minute quick dessert.
Assume the meals are as well. Great for a beginner cook.
