Wow, I got more responses on my mis-spelling of chili than actual recipes!  lol

ONLY ONCE did I microwave a hot dog.   It exploded and flew out the oven door...across the kitchen floor.

Kitty was instantly right on the spot...and wouldn't give the thing up, either...

So.

Here's my idea.

What about putting sweet chili sauce on a hot dog?

Chili dog, but without the beef chili.  lol

Then I was thinking how much I like spring rolls and thought maybe it would be fun to wrap a hot dog in the type of wrap those are made in and dip it in chili sauce.

Brown 1 lb. lean ground beef

Diced onion to taste I use about 1/2 cup

2 T. yellow mustard

2 T. Worchestershire

2 T. brown sugar

1 T. chili powder

8 oz. tomato sauce

Cook all together for about 15 minutes on simmer.

Spoon over hot dogs that have been browned in a skillet.

Top with shredded cheese, and sweet pickle relish.

Extra onions if desired

Do you mean Chili as in the meat or Chile as in the country?

Chili is a meat?  I thought it was a hot pepper!

My husband LOVES a GOOD hot dog.  He will travel hours to a new spot or hours to an old time favorite.  The places he really likes are old school hole in the walls for the most part.  I made chili sauce years ago for hot dogs but it was tedious.  On occassion I break open a can of Castleberry's hot dog chili sauce.  Found in most grocery stores.

@timeless Funny you mentioned chili dogs.

Every once in awhile my husband craves a chili dog. And we go to a local restaurant "Nifty Fifty" and enjoy ourselves.

But this week in the grocery my husband spotted a can of "Steve's & Ed's Hot Dog Chili Sauce". So of course we bought it. We haven't tried it yet. So don't have a review from my husband.

He does not boil hot dogs. He slices them down the middle and just cooks on a non-stick pan.

Good luck finding a recipe.

Read this somewhere and tried it.  It's pretty good!

Put hot dogs and a bit of water in a small fry pan.

Put on Med heat.  Let the hot dogs steam until the water boils almost out.  Remove excess water with paper towel.

The hot dogs will now brown.  Keep turning till all the skin is brown and puffy!    Love the brown skin!  Please try this!

I like Casselberry's sauce.

Small Batch Hot Dog Sauce

4 oz ground beef
¼ C boiling water
2 Tbsp tomato paste
½ Tbsp each chili powder, dry minced onion, & ketchup (I tsp)
½ + ⅛ tsp brown sugar
salt to taste

Mix raw ground beef & boiling water until meat is very fine. Stir in the remaining ingredients & simmer on the stovetop, on low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 2 hours.

Haven't tried this one but it sounds good!   Don't know when I saved it.

We air fry our Ball Park beef weiners and top with homemade chili made from ground beef, onions, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, tomato sauce and broth, simmer to the consistency you like.
