Re: Anyone ever make scalloped potatoes w/ sweet potatoes

Yes! I actually made some a few years ago that were a combo of regular potatoes and sweet potatoes. I remember that I had to get potatoes that were all about the same size, and then they were staggered back and forth, one sweet potato then one regular around the dish so it looked pretty (instead of just layering). It was some sort of cream type mixture, I think it had a hint of nutmeg and maybe Gruyère cheese, just a bit? Anyway, it was a good combo.

Re: Anyone ever make scalloped potatoes w/ sweet potatoes

Haven't made sweet potatoes this way in many years, but used to do this popular version  in a casserole dish, which can be made ahead and finally baked near serving time.........

(1) Preferably select potatoes somewhat long  and thin in shape so they can be sliced more evenly.

(2) Parboil  them until easy to remove  peel but aren't mushy.

(3) Slice  potatoes and layer slices in a  greased casserole dish.

(4) Microwave a mix of  salt, butter, brown sugar (or maple syrup), cinnamon and/or nutmeg.

Baste the potatoes with the butter mix.

.  Bake at 350 degrees until desired doneness.

Nope.  I can't see sweet potatoes with cheese sauce.
