Everybody should have the courtesy and good manners to read the Standards (if you read them you would've heard of bumping) &do what they think is right & kind and not judge what other posters do. Even tho I appreciate if somebody comes back one time to thank posters  I think it's rude to harass a poster for not coming back to a thread, it means you put a PRICE on your replies to a person and condemn them if they don't "pay up" by coming back imho. I think some people have control issues lol.

It's getting to be d if you do and d if you don't, I'm too old to be scolded, and I know how to behave. I guess it's time for a break again. I have stuff to do anyway.

Lol! This thread is a scold and bash of posters who don't come back to a thread & they probably feel they "know how to behave", I guess some scolding is ok & some scolding isn't ok. Double standards imo.

I have never even heard of this, and I would never think that someone who is taking time out to answer people who have posted on a thread that they started is guilty of "bumping up their own thread."

My comments aren't directed at you personally, @chickenbutt. I'm just commenting about some of these internet etiquette rules that people come up with, or whatever you want to call them. Smiley Happy

I just don't know where people come up with some of these negative ideas, and where they have to seemingly be applied in a nefarious way to someone's internet posts.

I tend to just take some things at "face value" without reading anything "more" into them. Smiley Happy

Hi Toppers!  Oh no, it's not when an OP responds to a question or post.  It's just when an OP keeps 'bumping' up a thread for the express purpose of keeping it at the top.

Sorry that was confusing.  I thought I was concise in saying that it was ONLY bumping a thread, not responding to one.   I'm having more and more trouble articulating these days.    Smiley Happy

If we're going to be suspected of trying to "bump up" our own threads by replying to people who contribute thoughts on the subject we raised in our original post, does that mean we SHOULD or SHOULD NOT post replies on our own thread?

This can't possibly be a serious issue, in my opinion.  I don't care whether anyone replies to anything I have said.  I appreciate those who take the time to do so, but I certainly don't get offended or suspicious at the online behavior of others.  We're grown-ups here, right? ............ and often pretty busy ones, too.

I never would have thought that someone who posts replies to everyone who wrote a post to them is trying to bump up a thread.

Many aren't even aware of what that is.

That to me seems to be attributing something to someone who is considerate that just isn't there.

It always reminds me that not everyone's perspective is the same.

Like when some people think someone is being nice for alterior motives. It makes me think that people who think this way, may do this themselves or are very untrusting.

Or someone who often accuses people of lying-I can't help but think they lie themselves or have been exposed to many who lie.

Especially when growing up, I wasn't exposed to or aware of people who were lying -it just wasn't even in our vocabulary.

Anyway, just thoughts from this thread.

I guess I think its nice when someone replies and I always admire someone who does and appreciate it.

Otherwsie we might as well be posting into the wild blue yonder or the twilight zone.

Kind of like facebook is sometimes. Who is everyone showing things to-post after video afer video, not their own but everything they see- maybe never expecting a reply or if there is, never replying in kind and rarely responding to anyone elses.

Weird. Maybe it is a generational thing.

We always had relationships that were face to face and I guess thats how I at least still maybe naively expect of technical media or whatever its all called.

I agree. Now saying thank you differently than someone else makes you a self-serving thread bumper?

It makes me sad when anyone is so cynical that saying thank you is somehow suspicious.

Yep, I agree, it's annoying, but it's an annoyance that's endemic to message boards. Lots of folks like to come in and do a hit and run.

Agree.  Life is hard enough without people picking on the posting behavior of total strangers sharing  an internet discussion board.

Re: Anyone else tired of posting replies and the person never returns to read them, but posts on QVC

Well, my take was the OP was commenting on people who post a question or request & then never go back to acknowledge the comments made.

Then there were people commenting when the OP replies to each & every individual post, not just a general "thank you" to all who posted.

I don't think there is a right way or a wrong way, each of us is different. What ever you have time for I guess.

I don't have a preference either way, whatever floats your boat!

Re: Anyone else tired of posting replies and the person never returns to read them, but posts on QVC

A lot of boats certainly float differently.  Ever since I got criticized for posting a long string of slow-cooker recipes that  someone felt had dominated the recipe forum for a brief time one day, I haven't bothered to post  recipes at all.

Apparently, there can sometimes be "too many" recipes posted on the recipe forum.  Heh...

I do enjoy reading those posted by others.
