Have always hated those stupid things--what purpose do they serve?. They do not sway me to buy whatever is being presented---if I watch for any amount of time, which is not a thing for me anymore and they are answering a call, I mute it or change the channel.

I don't understand why it bothers so many. Like @Carmie , I am not bothered at all. It seems as though the call not only makes the persons day but it seems to uplift them and probably makes their month, perhaps their year. I can deal with a few minutes so that others can feel comforted in some way. True, it's not my thing but it is for other customers.

They have been doing it since the beginning and have never stopped so it must work for them in some form or another.

I could do without them. Kim Gravel callers go on forever as Kim engages for quite a while with the caller. She usually ends up asking the caller to write or text her and then prays for her. I understand the callers are usually lonely people but they really serve no purpose to the viewer.

Yes they are usually over the top cringey!

I don't like the fawning over the vendors & hosts and I also find it hard to listen to those who have to report their health issues.

I will usually mute the calls.

I mute them because I get some sort of "bystander embarrassment" as callers gush and gush, about the rep and/or the host, and then go into their personal issues. Sometimes they'll say, "Hi, it's me Barbara from Milwaukee," and of course the rep will have no idea who they are. This happened on a Kim Gravel show, and Kim handled it very well.

I have heard those calls.  Hello it's me Jane.  I met you five years ago at some event in Minnesota.  How is a vendor supposed to remember an individual from many individuals five years ago.

Re: Testimonial calls

[ Edited ]

Hear a lot of embarrassing calls.  Worst was back when Jeffrey Hewson  was host, he was so arrogant, yet young and handsome.  Caller said he was so hot she wanted to jump on his bones!!! TMI.   Omg, another time Kathy Levine had a caller who talked for over 35 mins.about the price of jewelry, lol.  Kathy tried to ge ther off, some reason the call checker wasn't around.  Whole show, we never saw the TSV totally shown.  Kathy kept looking to side as if to have someone get help.  But she was professional.  After that, I muted every call that came in.  Oh, and one time a caller threatened to harm Mary Beth.  They had to go to commercial.   There is no bleeping. It's live.  Mute is your friend. They don't need the testimonials most of the time

@JYWilliams   Exactly!!!  I don't watch, but I do buy online on website. More convenient, moves faster, no phone calls, I can get measurements, land of origin and more details.   It works for me!
