Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Carmie  Agree 100%.  I don't even know who many of the hosts are any more and can't tell them from the vendors.  If the item is of interest, I'll watch.  Do not understand those who watch for company and/or entertainment--LOL!!!

My wish would be that they had one channel, kept their best hosts and moved along faster so more items were shown. I think that would help their underperforming financial numbers.

      I agree.........too many channels and it feels diluted and duplicated to me. Both HSN and QVC have 2+ channels with the same merchandise over and over.

I don't watch QVC  for the host on duty.   I couldn't care  less who is presenting a product.

If what is being presented is something I might want, I'll watch.  If it is something I am not interested in, I'll change the channel.

I can't imagine watching QVC all day.

In addition, what someone considers to be the best hosts are someone else's least favorite hosts.

There are more important matters in life than who is presenting what or which channel on   QVC.

@Carmie

No one said they watch 24/7 ..... many of us DO turn the channel and we actually know how to operate a remote.... Smiley Wink

Well a host that's unprepared and talks more about themselves and their family instead of telling me about the product wont keep me watching even if I might be interested in that product being presented.....

Sorry, the reality is some hosts are just UNWATCHABLE and if it impacts viewership its also impacting QVC's sales and from their recent financial reports QVC needs all the viewers and sales it can get....(and from reading many posts here on the Forum I have a lot of company regarding my thoughts on ineffective hosts).....

Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Spurt   I personally don't find any of the Hosts unwatchable.  I know that they are sales people and most that comes out of their mouth is to entice people to part with their money.

Host's that grate on the nerves of some people are welcomed and loved by others.  Most of QVC's viewers are not on the forums.  We are just a few of their viewers.  if a Host is not generating sales and money, they will be let go.

IMO, if QVC goes belly up...and it will eventually, we can find some place else to take our money.  Home shopping channels are not in the future for young consumers.  They really cannot be saved from the chopping block...it's only a matter of time. Their glory years are long gone.

I often wonder what hosts can tell us about the product that we don't already don't know....you can dress it up or dress it down.  This is on Oprah's Christmas list,  this pan is non-stick.  I wish there was smell-a-vision so you could smell this.

The fabric is a miracle knit ( cheap polyester). This is the only order of the season...we have the lowest price possible....this item is exclusive to QVC, etc.

@Carmie

Really?????....What can the host/vendor offer about the product?????--- A  HECK OF A LOT MORE than just throwing out sales gimmicks and puffery like the Oprah favorite that many people said isnt even an effective selling point, and neither is dressing it up/dressing it down another tired cliched sales pitch....what about fabrics, other than "it's soft" or "miracle knit" (and you just proved my point regarding bad hosts!)...what about measurements missing from the website that should be mentioned on air....What about the run times for vacuum cleaners on ALL settings not just the low setting, some people have complained about missing nutrition data for those on gluten free diets....Have you ever looked online and seen all the questions people had on an item that go unanswered that deal with product performance,  I had to go to the manufacturer's Facebook Page to find out the weight of a 5 ft Christmas tree since it was not given out in the presentation....Others have asked many valid questions with no replies that should have been included in the presentations.....It shows the presentations are a FAILURE!!!

And maybe some of us would like to see QVC stick around so we give suggestions and feedback....if you are not into really interested in QVC and have such a cavalier attitude (we can find some place else to take our money.)...why are you bothering to read these posts and particiapte in QVC's Forums .....

Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Spurt   Yes, I have seen the questions asked by people on the products webpage.  If they would read the descriptions, they would find the answer most of the time.

To be honest, I often go to Amazon and other retailers to get product info and reviews on products offered by QVC. If QVC does not make the information available, you can't blame the hosts.  They have to work with the information they were given by their employer.

I have been buying from QVC since almost the beginning.  I don't wish them ill will or wish that they close down, but times are changing. Brick and mortar stores that were the heart of USA shopping have closed.  Younger people prefer to buy online and do their own research about products.  They are looking for products for today.  They don't care how long they last.  Material goods are temporary and replaced at will.

Soon, there will not be enough interest in shopping on TV.  People don't want to sit around and listen.  They would rather read a paragraph or two, read reviews and shop quickly.

It is not my choice or wish that shopping channels will soon be in the past.  it's our reality.  Like it or not, it is happening and there is not much we can do to stop it.

Have you read the descriptions on the web page....its mostly nothing but more sales puffery and fluff...some clothing items dont even include measurements on their web page!!!

The host SHOULD BE blamed for a poor presentations....the hosts have mentioned countless times how they attend meetings to learn about the products for the show....and some also attend trade shows and even visit manufacturers to learn abouth the products....but instead hosts that like to "skid by" and fill time with their personal stores or go through colors and quantities a million times and offer no further details about the merchandise....The host's job is to give the viewer details about the products, thats what they get paid for........if they dont, thats a bad host....

Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Spurt   I respectfully disagree with you.  QVC is responsible for getting all and the correct information to the hosts so they they can convey the info to us.  They also use vendors who are supposed to know their products.

The hosts can only tell us what they know...info is supposed to be on those blue cards they have.  I guess when they have said all they know about a product, they have to use fillers until the time is up or the product is sold out.  Some are better at it than others.

If the information is not on the website, it is safe to assume the Host's don't have it either.

If you feel there is a problem with information, QVC seems to be the one who dropped the ball, not the hosts.

Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Spurt I totally agree with you. I won't watch a host that IMO is annoying and unprepared. Nor do I watch presentations of items that I am not interested in. All of the channel swapping and re-runs has resulted in far less viewing and purchasing from QVC for me. Better for my bank account anyway.

Re: Taking hosts from the regular Q and moving them to the other channels.

@Carmie that's the whole point - the HOSTs are supposed to know the product and if they don't, then QVC isn't doing its job in training them. Plus they have a vendor there most of the time, if the HOST doesn't know the information, then stop talking long enough to allow the person (vendor) who IS the most knowledgeable to actually present the information with the facts, rather than stop them from talking to update colors.

They used to give measurements on the show but then Jayne Brown and QVC apparently went along with it, decided that people could get that from the website! What a mess that has created. If I am watching the presentation on TV, then by golly, give me the information I need to purchase the item during the presentation. Don't make me have to research it another way in order to buy. Sometimes whoever is directing will actually run the sizing info on the tv screen but not often enough. Most times, that screen is frozen on one item.
