Re: THE DOWNFALL OF QVC

[ Edited ]

Fixed expenses:  salaries, benefits, lease payments, studio operational costs, fees paid to cable carriers, shipping contracts, principal and interest debt payments and more.....

They don't sell enough to cover costs of goods acquired plus operating expenses.

@beckyb1012

Qurate ( QVC's parent) is currently selling at .47 cents per share.

Forty seven cents.

DOWN 72 % for this year.

"QVC" is NOT the shopping channel's stock...it's a BOND component of thier holdings ...on bonds that mature a million years into the future ( good luck with that...in  the year 2068)

It's a common mistake, so don't feel bad!!!!

When looking for the "stock" of QVC....look for the ticker QRTEA on the Nasdaq exchange!!

Company Name: "Qurate Retail A...."

Hope this helps!!!

I wasn't kidding!! That's how long you'd have to hold those QVC bonds!!!

Sponsoring hot chocolate movies and the Rockettes~~~

Flying certain hosts 3,000 miles away to do TSV's and award shows~~~

Even though I was among the ones saying I thought Sandra looked fabuous, I also wondered what the total tab was for two hosts.

And still and yet they're able to sell like today's Denim & Co. jacket; last I heard I believe was 30,000. That surprises me that actually thirty thousand was still sold.

I remember it wasn't unusual for thousands and thousands being sold. Like before they dropped all the vendors.

Selling 30,000 should tell TPTB, there are people with money and will spend it if you offer something they like.

Yet, they still keep messing with hosts and entertainment.

I rarely watch anymore, if I do it's for entertainment only.  They need better hosts.

My view... the downfall of QVC began with the onset of product vendors at every turn.  Hosts stopped researching and prepping for shows. Vendors became Q celebrities in their own right.

Then came tandem hosts.  Two chatty hosts talking over the unnecessary vendor topped off with dancing, singing and general silliness.

Finally, the hard sell (tap your app, quick click checkout, hurry before your size runs out...ad nauseum).  Endless droning of numbers sold, color choices, where to wear, who to buy for...and on and on.

I used to think so much more of QVC.  They seem to have chosen their path, though.

@bells4me,

I can't begin to imagine watching QVC for entertainment.

I"t is likely most of the "salary money" is going to the two longest term hosts, one male and one female. Another host who is on all the time talks nonstop about herself and is exhausting to watch. "

Come on - name names!
