Re: Stop scaring people about "food shortages"

[ Edited ]

I shopped this morning, and I have been shopping in the same store since this started and of course there is food, but some things are in short supply or non- existent.  For instance, I buy low sodium varieties of items when offered, and it is almost impossible to find them. Pasta and rice are in short supply, but meat seems to be plentiful. In other words you might not get exactly what you want, but there is food. Again, this is my store and my area only.

My supermarket has had a shortage of pasta too.... and although I have a couple of packages, so I can make my Lasagna cassarole, I've just gone ahead and purchased other things.  As for myself, I have to severely limit my pasta intake anyway... Woman Tongue

There's no pasta shortage here.

The supermarkets were out of it in the early stages of this pandemic, but even then I was able to find all the Barilla pasta we needed at Big Lots--and Dollar General.

Absolutely - prices are outrageous.  And despite what some of these posts say, pasta is readily available online if not locally.

Point well taken @Jake1316 pasta is available. I know in my store it is limited, but even the whole grain is available.

@proudlyfromNJ - And isn't it interesting that the OP is now encouraging people to buy online if there are food shortages in their local stores? That's pretty much what she's reprimanding QVC for doing...

@loriqvc Really? You don't see the difference between buying pasta online, and paying $50 for 2 small containers of mac and cheese,

All the stores in my state are low on everything, including meat, pasta, toilet paper, and about everything else you might need.  Just because one person finds it doesn't mean everyone else does too.

I've been with QVC from the beginning - and this is my first blog post.  I realize times are tough, and the hosts are under pressure to sell - but I am completely fed up with hosts during the food shows - which used to be my hands down favorite - urging people to buy because of shortages at the grocery store.  I realize certain food items are hard to come by - but during gourmet holiday this afternoon, the host tried to sell st clair mac and cheese by claiming that grocery stores are out of pasta.  Seriously???  QVC should make her apologize on air - and should be ashamed if they don't.

@Jake1316   Welcome. I'm not sure if you meant to call this the blogs or the forums.

To all: I'm embarrassed that a new poster is being ragged on in this manner.

When I called out QVC for their exhorbitant prices on food items I was scolded by many. Apparentkt my definition of price gouging is different than theirs.
