I think many of you make a good point. I wouldn't watch if they were wearing gloves. I'm not the one eating this food they are cutting and showing. If it doesn't bother those eating it, why should it bother the audience (who's not eating it).
As far as the original preparation of the food....come on! Most companies follow strict rules and health regulations when preparing food for the public. Their business are inspected, etc all of the time.
I don't usually buy food they sell unless it's Cheryl's cookies and sometimes the apples. A few things here and there. Way back I ordered some filet steaks and they weren't good. I called Customer Service and they refunded my money (no questions asked). I only eat Filet Mignon and thought I'd try there's. A big mistake on my part. Doesn't mean there was something wrong with it, I thought it seemed like lower quality and was very tough.
There are people (like myself) who have a hard time walking around grocery stores, etc. I order my groceries and the store puts them in the car and my neighbor brings them upstairs. There are a lot of reasons why some people prefer to buy food other than prepare it themselves. If you have a small family (husband and wife) often it is easier to order food. I'm just giving another side of the coin (so to speak). As with everything there are two sides.
Every time the hosts bite into or eat something I always wonder if they ae thinking, "Ugh! This is terrible...." (thinking to themselves...'Swallow and smile'). Ha! There is no way everything QVC sells is so great to every host but I realize they have to sell it, that's what professionals do, I guess.

My husband, the cook in our family, doesn't wear gloves while preparing meals. When I was the cook, I didn't either.
I don't watch the food presentations very often, but if they mandated the wearing of gloves, I would never watch. It would remind me too much of a medical procedure. :-)
A few years ago, the City of LA mandated the wearing of gloves for every food worker every minute, for every task. The regulation lasted six months before it was dumped as impossible and stupid.
And undoubtedly counter-productive as well, unless they switched out gloves every minute or so.

@Q4u wrote:I've not had good experiences either and stopped buying foodstuffs like Ham, the side dishes, cheeze cake, crab cakes, steaks wrapped in bacon, etc. I will buy wrapped bars like the Corazonas or Kind bars and that's been fine. A few years ago the little steaks wrapped in bacon were so full of gristle I had to complain. No one got a little steak without half of it being uneatable. Bought one of the hams a few years ago and when it came it was in an opaque wrapper so I couldn't see the meat or the bone. Went to prepare it for dinner and I was blown away that the bone was huge and roughly half the ham was fat. Not enough meat for my little dinner party and had to rush out and buy another one (which was beautiful and 1/3 the cost).
I'm another one that gets turned off by certain preparations I see being done, or by getting a meal and the texture is odd, etc. Only DH has seen this side of me because people will remark on it. Can't help it, it's just there and has been since I was a kid. Got sick eating Frietos when I was about 8 and I've never touched them again. We went to a little diner for a hamburger once and I could see the cooks preparing the meals and one was sweating horribly.... I can't go back there. I know cooks sweat and it's hard work, but if I see it .... and they're handling my meal, it's all over for me.
On the flip side, you come to my house for a meal and you'll know that every precaution I can take to prepare something safely and without an ew factor will be taken......
I sure know what you mean, @Q4u. I never eat fast foods. I can't stand the smell of hamburger fast food places.
When traveling by car and we stop some strange place to eat, I order some tea and toast and carry fruit, cheese and crackers along the way.
When I see others are never bothered, I'm just quiet and never remark on what I see or feel. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. If anyone notices they just remark I'm "picky" about food.

Even the people who thought it would be a good idea and would work ended up thinking oops, BIG mistake!

Thats my complaints about ALL the product presentation--it seems some of the key details are not indicated about the product either the on-air presentation or the info on the website. instead of Instead of David doing his happy dance, or Mary talking about the results of the ITKWD Facebook poll why dont the hosts give IMPORTANT information on the product such as the ones you queried...................

They can poke it all they want. The prices are horribly expensive. I cannot understand the money they get for some of the foods. I guess if your rich it is ok. I am not, so I have never purchased any foods.

The vast majority of QVC purchases are impulse buys. They want food purchases to be no different. They know that if they give ingredients and nutritional info, people won't buy nearly as much.
That said - even though we shouldn't need to, nearly all of this can be looked up elsewhere online. And I did see an item where the company had provided QVC with a PDF of nutrition/ingredients and it was right there to click on, on the product page.
Wonder if things will change if a child with an allergy home from school before the parents are, will open and eat something from QVC that will seriously harm or kill them because nothing about ingredients was said on QVC or the website, and they couldn't be found elsewhere. Parents can't always control everything their kids do every minute. Bet we'd see disclaimers (at the very least) up the wazoo then.

I hate it when they squeeze bread, cake, chocolates between their fingers. But then I also hate it when they keep bending shoes back and forth almost in half.

A tip I learned watching Laura former KA rep--I mix my meatloaf and similar items in my KA mixer. I remove it and shape it with a utensil. Mixes quickly that way too.
