There was no misinterpretation.

I've worked with people for the last 50 years, people in all levels of life from homeless to CEOs.  You'd be surprised at how few people "know" how to interpret a post/comment.

In your world, that may be true.

In my world, that just hasn't been my experience.

You made my point for me.

So, because she disagrees  with you, and doesn't see things as you do, she "doesn't know how to interpret" either?

I see one person who disagrees with you. Just say ok or shrug.

Some "people" just can't let it go.

People need to think about how they are interpreting a post.  People should not add their own thoughts, emotions, struggles, etc into what an anonymous poster says.  Some people are direct but that doesn't mean they are being nasty.  ...

BTW, I haven't seen a mean post in months. I might have missed one as I don't read every post. But I don't read more into a post than is there.  I also don't care if someone is direct.  I don't care if someone beats around the bush other than I'll lose interest if it goes on too long.

People need to stop being hurt, offended, upset about things they have zero control over.   Life is short.

@CalminHeart

Completely agree with your entire post, but especially well-stated in first paragraph.  Thank you for posting it.

Come on.  I'm just saying that those who think they know how to interpret emails are usually the ones that misread them.   For someone to say they know how to interpret email based on personal experience is pretty limited since they can't see facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, etc. I misinterpret sometimes too.  It's not a big deal to misunderstand.  It is a big deal to discount anything outside your own circle.

I didn't see her discounting anything. She stated what her experience has been, politely acknowleding your experience. That's pretty much all any of us can relate - our personal experience. She'd said her experience was not yours, and that's all she said. No 'discounting.'

And "emails" was not mentioned in the exchange between you - it was "a post/comment." (See above for reference). Now it's all emails?  In general, IMO, reading commentary on an internet forum is a fair bit different to how one regards emails, business or personal. At least, in my experience - which is just that - my experience. People can have differing experiences without either being "wrong."

I was hoping the poster would stop digging, but I guess not. First, nothing what so ever was addressed to her. Spurt made a comment that I could identify with. Then for some inexplicable reason, this poster went off on a wild tangent about "people" (most in her opinion) didn't have the ability to interpret posts correctly, adding what "people" should or should not do.

I posted that I have been on a political forum for years and even though there are dissenting opinions, the forum is strictly moderated, trying to explain people on that forum have the ability to give that opinion without going into attack mode. If it can be done there, it should be able to be done anywhere.

I then, as politely as I could, said we will have to agree to disagree about "most people" don't have the ability to interpret posts correctly. That has not been my experience, as I said.  There was NO discounting. This is a fabrication on the poster's part, or perhaps HER inability to interpret posts.

No one said said anything about emails, there is a difference between emails and posts, so I will let "people" be the judge of who is "misunderstanding" things.

I hope this clears things up and @Moonchilde I thank you for trying to help make things be seen for what they were.

@SouthFlorida321. Click on the forum you would like to start a thread in. Top left in red should say New Message. You can't be on a thread as you are now.
