Easy Pay isnt the villain here. A person can get lost in overspending, whether at QVC or anywhere else.

It disturbs me that many adults aren't well schooled in the wise use of credit, and have to learn the hard way as they struggle to resolve these types of avoidable debts.

(The unavoidable ones are bad enough.)

When they offer easy pay they're extending free credit. That's rare.

But don't use it if it's not a plus for your situation.

Credit is a financial tool that you should put to work for you, not against you.

I totally agree with you.

If I walk into Nordstrom and spend four times, what I can easily afford, for a winter coat, (and I was so tempted, a couple of weeks ago, it was a fabulous coat), that's my fault, I don't resent Nordstrom, for selling an expensive coat - selling is what keeps them in business! The sales associate was great at her job; had that coat been in stock, in one size larger, I might well have squeezed my budget to buy it! It wasn't and I didn't, But, if I had, it would have been on me. Not the store for selling, or the associate, for being good at her job.

I've used easy pay, and yes, it can be easy to over use it.
Retailers offer it, of course, to increase sales.
Its up to us, the consumer, to know what we can and can't afford to spend.

Re: QVC easy pay troubles

BUT if you’re dealing with easy pay and synchrony bank, and purcashed a few ball jeans items, sync bank adds charges that no one tells you about. According to QVC my last easy pay payment would be in January but I recently received a statement (synchrony bank) that my balance is $515!! I will never understand how they get away with that. I have a list of my easy pay purchases and whattheirb each easy pay amount was each month. Useless. I even called a few times to make sure I was on track. I still owe sync bank over $500! I’m saving every cent I can to pay this off, then I’m done with QVC AND synchrony bank!

A bank cannot just randomly add charges to your account. There has to be a reason for them.

If you don't understand or agree with the charges, by all means call the bank and don't hang up, until you do. If you feel the charges are unjustified, find out, what  their procedure for disputing them is, and do so.

If these fees are for being  overlimit on your account, or late payment fees, they can add up quickly. Often, if you have a solid payment history, with the bank, they will waive an overlimit or late fee, usually, as a one time "courtesy".

We can hate, those late or over limit fees, as much as we want. The reality is, pretty much, all credit providers use them, so, it's really important, that we be aware of our credit limits and due dates.

With some cards, it's even more important, that we be vigilant. Being late on a payment, even once, can raise your interest rate 🧐

Actually, I had a Q card, but cancelled it because I couldn't ever reconcile what I bought on easy pay to what they said I owed.  I questioned them, they initially sent me a check for $25 for a late payment that wasn't late, then after I questioned them again about the balance and I cancelled the Q card, they sent me a check for over $37 dollars that they said was overbilled?  I now only use Pay Pal or my bank credit card that I both trust.

Just an update. I paid all the easy pay nonsense off. I picked a few items each pay check and paid them off or down. Even 1-2 payments mean a lot. My checking acct was getting a surprise each week with a new charge. You have to look ahead of each charge and pay them before you get beaten. It took a bit of discipline not to order anything new. Now off to a few regular credit cards 😬

Thats great!!....trying to get some of my charges down...(its hard right now when I need to buy presents!) Woman Frustrated

We shouldn't bash those who like easy pay.  Not everyone can afford something without it.  People just need to be careful to not overdo.

Oh @hooked on books I don’t have a QCard (or any credit cards).  I just use the Easy Pay they provide for free on some purchases and usually just on larger purchases.

Trust me, I do not do well on credit cards and worked very hard to become debt free. It’s very tempting and was very helpful raising two daughters on my on but I sleep so much better now.

There is light at the end of the tunnel - I promise!

Hope you’re having a great day today and hope to talk to you soon.

DH does the bills and he said too, dont use easy pay over the holidays. Hes sick of it draggging payments out over months. lol. (he pays bills instantly!)  In fact he said weeks ago put QVC orders on credit card full pay not easy pay. So guess what? I ordered something and it went on easy pay on credit card by mistake. Here everything says easy pay now you have to EDIT, when before you chose easy pay yourself it wasnt already there. Anyway he called QVC and they wouldnt make it one full payment on our credit card said it was already being put in box JUST hours after ordering! Well thats not true, because we didnt get the package for 2 weeks. So moral of the story double check everything when ordering OR it will automatically be on easy pay. You have to edit that choice!

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make~ The Beatles
