For Heaven's sakes! What kind of camera people do they hire?

It used to be only early in the am where I noticed this the most but now whoever it is has come in the morning and last night!

Here's what I mean-a close up shot of one part of a pair of pants or Mally's compact while 2 "talking heads" that we can't see are talking about the square of what we are seeing.Maybe one finger will be in the shot along with the patch of makeup. It just feels surreal, annoying and rude to whoever is talking.

I get that we want to see close-ups but not for over five minutes of a boring patch of powder while not seeing who is talking-its like watching a headless recorder or something.

There is another channel that does that and I always think that is for the non-classy channel.(and I'm not talking about HSN)

Then after too long of having the camera right up close to one square of something, they think, okay lets go for the long shot, and finally we see who is talking but they are now so far away, we can hardly see faces or any details at all! WTH?!

I just think whoever runs the show, should sit in front of a tv and watch the show instead of in a booth so they can see what all their customers see.

I know I'm not the only one because someone had a similar thread about not seeing the jewelry up close until much later.And you may think wait that is the opposite of what I am saying but no, we do need close-ups but for a reason! I want to see material to see what it looks like, jewelry, lots of things up close but not for several minutes with a headless voice on a square of makeup or a brush of mascara.

It has got to be a man who they don't pay much to work the camera. Sorry to men, but I can't imagine the person operating the camera would have any interest in buying whatever they are shooting.(and I mean makeup, jewelry, fashion etc)

And don't even... anyone bother to say turn the channel-no don't do it.

They could just show "flash cards" of all the items, and eliminate the humans altogether..................

We had a term in sales.  Sell the sizzle and you will sell the product.  I also think they are depending on the fact that you have looked at your computer to see product information.  If you ever get a letter that you have returned too much,  they tell you to look at the website to see details and basically do your homework before you buy.  I agree with you that the camera work can be lousy and makes it difficult to buy.

I think I just want to see a face when they are talking.

Its okay if its just for a little bit to show a close up without a face but not on and on. Its discombobulating?!

I think that anyone who has watched QVC for any legnth of time, knows what the hosts and (regular) vendors look like.

If the camera focused only on who was talking, which they do non-stop for every item that they show, then you would have people complaining that the hosts and vendors were hogging the camera, instead of showing the product.

One can always watch the show on mute, if the talking without showing of who is talking is bothering them that much.

LOL.... I agree about the camara shots, they can be interesting to say the least....

Gosh, I remember Jane Rudolph Tracy had just lost her mother (a very long time ago now) and she kept saying something about the camara moving in on something, she repeated it several times and the camara was not responsive and she finally said tersely and somewhat louder with a kind of catch to her voice....."you guys are supposed to be helping me!".....  I remember this because I felt she was raw enough from the loss of her Mom and the camara man was daydreaming (or something) and wasn't listening.....

I did not know her mother had passed.  It must be hard to go on TV when you are grieving.  One minute you are fine, and the next you can get all emotional.

Was anyone watching a few days ago when a cameral actually fell over?  It was a very loud crash on the sales floor.  I think it was Sandra that was selling clothes, but I don't remember the vendor.
