I've been shopping with the Q since first quarter 2008, if I recall correctly. Perhaps it started because my husband died and later that year I found out we had QVC on cable while I was recovering from surgery. Perhaps it was the novelty of shopping at the Q. All I can say is I spent considerable money on things here for a few years. I liked Denim & Co, George Simonton, Linda Dano furniture/decor etc. They had pretty cool things I'd never seen before. Then I discovered the mother of all stores - Amazon. Not that I shop on Amazon all that much, heck I never enrolled in their Prime program.
I like the variety. I prefer Prezerve jewelry storage for my sterling, which I bought alot of from the Q. Little by little I saw my choices declining. The only game in town from a jewelry storage perspective became Lori Grenier. I got nothing against Lori.
I liked the Steel by Design jewerly alot. Prices shot up on that and the selection in designs took a turn that I didn't want to follow. So I found Stately Steel, elsewhere.
Like I said, I don't know if businesses went out of business or what. We lost Birkenstock, they killed off great house brands like Motto and the prices of Graver and Denim & Co shot through the roof for what they are (IMHO).
I don't know, I guess all businesses have to evolve. Every once in a while I get something cool here like that Snow Joe crazy looking 2 handled shovel that I can't rave about enough. I like my occasional Oryany handbag.
I will say one thing that HSN does that puts the Q to shame - that channel knows how to have a clearance sale. They also reimburse me the difference when a price goes down in 30 days - caught them on that more than once, lol.
There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise
