It's a funny thing about moms, we love the gender we get. I'm sure she would have been as involved, loving, and proud of sons.
I do love my son, but when I got pregnant 3 months after we adopted him (he was 4 days old and yes they are about a yr. apart 😧), in my heart, I wanted a girl. If there's a good foundation, mothers and daughters can have a profoundly close relationship. I knew there was a chance this would be my only pregnancy, but certainly would have dearly loved another son, as well.
Mothers and daughters can have a close relationship, but can also have the kind my DIL has. Mom that hijacked her wedding and can't wait to but# into her marriage, child rearing, and her work. That's why my son and his wife live close to us and thousands of miles away from her parents. It took 29 years, but I got my daughter. She was worth the wait. I don't think the gender of the child creates a more or less "profound" closeness.

@faeriemoon.. I agree w/ your initial comment and also about Cara. At 1 point last year, It was touted that Cara was living the NYC life and performing in Off Broadway. What happened to that short lived career? Now she's back at a little town playhouse in Media, PA.. I found that interesting. Maybe looking into another career might be helpful, thus the apparent ghost auditions for Q.. it seems to be a nice family anyway..
@KKlim Yes; she was with a couple of different ballet companies, then made the switch to theatre. Didn't know she was in Pennsylvania right now. Unless she's just doing summer theatre now, which is entirely possible

When you put your children's lives front and center via TV, you can't avoid the speculation or comments. I had a bit of this (public speaking, not TV) growing up and hated it. I finally told my Dad he had to stop telling stories about me to illustrate his talking points. It was an invasion of my privacy, which I value. Pat is very proud of her daughter and conveys this without TMI. MaryBeth handles this well too.
