It doesn't bother me. It's a sales tactic. They're trying to get people amped up about something or get them to hurry up and make up their mind about choosing a color (red is flying out the door!) or getting the item, period.
I would think with certain items (shoes, small appliances, electronic gadgets, etc.) they likely get them in advance and use them at work off-air (and/or possibly at home), which makes sense to me, as they should know about what items they are/will be presenting.

Other sales tactics I don't fall for......."we are VERY busy on the phones, please use automated ordering".....or....."MOST PEOPLE (really?) are ordering more than one!" But, if I had to sell things for 2 or 3 hours on TV, I might say anything too.

I really like Jill, but she did this a couple of nights ago and I found it very annoying. I wasn't planning to order bunnies. I have dozens, including three that are in my back yard right now munching out, but for those who wanted that set I found it wrong. Jill explained that she had designed these bunnies. And she certainly got to see them when she previewed the show, which she mentioned that she had done. No reason she could not have ordered before the show started. I think this was not a sales tactic - just something she didn't know for sure was going to sell out and she didn't want to miss out. I think they should go back to no host ordering unless before or after the show. If it sells out, tough luck. You had your chance before we got to see it.

Before or after not during the show. They know what will be presented. It is a come on.

I remember many years ago the hosts said they were not allowed to purchase items before they were presented....

Tacky is exactly what I would call it. I really think it's a sales tactic, in fact I think it means the item isn't selling well enough. Hard to imagine people rush to order after hearing that.
When a color becomes a "favorite" in the middle of the presentation, I also think that means it's not selling. This I find humorous. The ordering I find offensive.

I don't mind. It's only one or two more items that aren't available....and I think it's rare that the last item would be the one I would have been able to buy.
