Re: Hosts ordering during presentation

I believe the host says that so you hurry up and buy something before it's gone.   They tend to use different tactics to get your attention.  What I don't understand is all these different stations QVC, QVC2, QVC Beauty.  I don't have time to be watching all these programs.  Cat Very Happy

Sorry to dredge this up again but it happened again last night with Kerstin on the Peace Love World segment.  As soon as the show opened and several times during the show, Kerstin said "I ordered before the show started so I could get all the things I wanted before they sold out". She probably did because this is her style of clothing, but to keep stating that she put herself first was what got me.  To me this is really rude and unprofessional.  What is she thinking telling customers I got mine-good luck getting yours!!  I turned the show off, prices are ridiculously high for that line anyway.

Once again, what she said was a "SALES TACTIC".

She said it because she wants people to think, "Oooh! If she got it, then it MUST be good!"

I know many think it is a sales tactic but then she was downright lying as she even specified what colors she ordered. Those clothes are definately Kerstin's style so she seemed believable in her statements.  Perhaps I am just naive.

On Denim & Co. Carolyn said she wanted a few pair of the shorts and she hoped they were still available after she got off the air.    At least she didn't tell "her producer" to order for her.  Still a sales tactic.  That never influences me.

Re: Hosts ordering during presentation

I have stood it too long and HAVE to address this. Do you people think that the hosts actually pay the price on screen for the item they are pushing??? I've worked several retail stores and the one perk of working there is that you get a percentage off of prices!!!!!! Also, whenever a snazzy item that we have never seen before is presented, the host always has "gotten it a few weeks ago" to try it and see how they liked it. Thus, they probably get all items FREE!!! I've heard Shawn talking about beauty items that she has ran low on and has called the vendor and gotten her a new supply....HELLO!!! Don't mean to come off snotty, but this is the real world...forgive me for my frazzled state!!!

Re: Hosts ordering during presentation

I don't believe the designers give the hosts the fashion they're showing. However, I've heard it said if they use the cosmetics or skin care during presentation, they own it.

The hosts have, I'm sure, a generous discount. They order just like you and me and it's delivered just like ours.

I've a friend, a professor, who worked a few hours a week at Nordstrom's for their discount. And she loved fashion and wore and looked gorgeous in her clothes. A birthday gift and Christmas gift was always beautiful from Nordstrom's.
