You can buy timers to place on any electrical product. I have them all over my house. We go away quite often and my lamps are all on timers.
I have them at our summer place too so it looks like the place is occupied.
At Christmas time, all my outdoor and window lights are on timers.
They are not expensive and easy to set up. Some of mine have remote controls as well, so I can just turn them on or off at will. I can even use the remote to control the lights upstairs without climbing the stairs. They are a great invention.
Not everyone has electrical outlets for timers that are near where they want to put items. Sure, lamps are generally near outlets to plug timers into. I have my lamps on timers like that too. However, I have other items that decorate my fireplace mantle and other areas of my home that a need battery timer operated option. I have 12 window candles in my house and all are battery powered with timers. I will never go back to trying to run extension cords all over the place trying to light taper candles in my windows with a plug in electrical timer.

Of course they're imported! Try finding any similar decor, in any store these days that isn't imported! While she may be making a decent profit on these items, bear in mind that QVC takes a big cut of the profit as well. Another thing to factor in is that 'she' brings it to you! You don't have to go out searching for items in different stores, and an added benefit is that as a home decor designer, she shows you how to arrange the items to look their best.
It's much like the makeup artist, Laura Geller. She not only sells her product, but in doing so she shows the audience how to apply the products and different tricks of the trade to make everything look better once it's applied.
That's so true on the cut. I have heard former vendors say they quit because QVC took too much of a percent.
That is not a knock on Q, but they are trying to right the ship, so the price increases reflect that.
I don't think they are out of line yet, but many do and start threads about it.
There have been MANY suggestions as to where you can get things cheaper, so if customers think prices are out of line here, they always have free will to shop elsewhere.
Oh, you know when you get a bid on a building project, you are advised to get three bids. You NEVER take the lowest bid!
Cheaper isn't always better.

Years ago I worked at a small gift shop. We had many things like VPH has in her collection. When we would price the merchandise for sale, the formula was to at least double the purchase price and then add some to cover tax and handling.

I was just out this morning looking for a few decorations. Walmart didn't have anything I wanted, so I went to Hobby Lobby. They were having a 40% off sale and I figured I could get what I wanted much cheaper than anything here on the Q.
Boy, did I get a surprise! Even with their sale prices, everything was still very high. And not nearly as full and lush as say, Valerie Parr Hill's items.
Maybe other places have better prices, but these are my only options. I find QVC's prices to be more than I want to spend, but the same is true locally.

🤔 Valerie isn't teaching me a thing about decorating that I don't already know from experience.
Her style is to overload, and convince you to buy it all if you want things to look ever so pretty, and make your home look exactly like Casa Parr-Hill.
I want my home decorated for Christmas, or any other holiday, tastefully, and not overdone. Whether new or old, I prefer items that have special meaning and happy memories for family and dear friends. When people enter, I want them to know that there is a family who lives here, gathered together to celebrate love and closeness, to celebrate what Christmas is all about.
I don't ever want someone to walk into my home, and think that this place looks like just another Christmas gift shop.

Good for you that you feel your taste is superior to anyone else's. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would happily disagree with you. Having said that, you can have special meanings and happy memories regardless of how one chooses to decorate. To you, Valerie's style is overload, to others it's just perfect.
Yes, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but when the opinion infers, in a smug and rude way, that what or how someone else chooses is not good enough, then that's what I would call self-serving.
I taught special education for 28 years before retiring three years ago, and one thing that I made sure to teach and instill in them was the importance of treating everyone with respect.

I own and decorate with quite a few seasonal VPH items.
I guarantee you, no one walks into my home(s) mistaking them for Hobby Lobby, a QVC warehouse, or a Christmas shop.
The Kentucky Barbie, as Rick kept calling her, doesn't deserve quite this much criticism.
The TSV is over...let's let her up for a while.

I surmised QVC purchased the items from vendors at wholesale costs and sold them to viewers at retail or a bit below.
That would explain why there are items in the warehouse for clearance and sale prices.
Is that incorrect and they get a percentage of total sales?

I believe I heard this bantered about on Shark Tank.
Mark Cuban was arguing with Lori Greiner about her always wanting to take potential products to QVC, to which he would always scoff saying it wasn't a good deal because they took too much of the sales percentage.
I am going by memory here, so I could be wrong.
