Of course they're imported!  Try finding any similar decor, in any store these days that isn't imported!  While she may be making a decent profit on these items, bear in mind that QVC takes a big cut of the profit as well.  Another thing to factor in is that 'she' brings it to you!  You don't have to go out searching for items in different stores, and an added benefit is that as a home decor designer, she shows you how to arrange the items to look their best.

It's much like the makeup artist, Laura Geller.  She not only sells her product, but in doing so she shows the audience how to apply the products and different tricks of the trade to make everything look better once it's applied.

That's so true on the cut. I have heard former vendors say they quit because QVC took too much of a percent.

That is not a knock on Q, but they are trying to right the ship, so the price increases reflect that.

I don't think they are out of line yet, but many do and start threads about it.

There have been MANY suggestions as to where you can get things cheaper, so if customers think prices are out of line here, they always have free will to shop elsewhere.

Oh, you know when you get a bid on a building project, you are advised to get three bids. You NEVER take the lowest bid!

Cheaper isn't always better.

I surmised QVC purchased the items from vendors at wholesale costs and sold them to viewers at retail or a bit below.
That would explain why there are items in the warehouse for clearance and sale prices.
Is that incorrect and they get a percentage of total sales?

I believe I heard this bantered about on Shark Tank.

Mark Cuban was arguing with Lori Greiner about her always wanting to take potential products to QVC, to which he would always scoff saying it wasn't a good deal because they took too much of the sales percentage.

I am going by memory here, so I could be wrong.

me thing!

Yes, she always had the same sentiments as Cuban as far taking too much percentage.

I guess Mr. Wonderful is okay with it and that always kind of shocked me~~~knowing the way he feels about his money! Woman Happy

I agree. Sometimes I find something I like but I usually watch because it's enjoyable.

I always enjoy the Fall shows since Fall is my time of the year.  It is uplifting to see new items and while the prices are high, I do find a few things I can afford.  I just like watching something light and for me happy!

Fall is my hands down favorite time of the year too and like you, watching Fall shows make me very happy!

How does having 3 hosts increase an item's price.  I've never understood that oft-repeated notion.  The hosts are already on the payroll.   Paid whether they sit at home or show up on set.  No hourly punch in wage for them!

Might as well put them to work.  They could have 5 or 6 at a time with no impact.

I guess because if they didn't feature so many hosts on the same shows perhaps they wouldn't need quite so many on the payroll.

I had one of Sunday's VPH shows on as background. Turning on QVC these days is unusual for me, but I recall finding the occasional decorative item in days gone by and while I wasn't really in the market to shop, I do enjoy fall and fall decor. Valerie Parr Hill used to offer some desirable things. She still does but you have to look harder and harder to find them among all the too cute, the kitsch, the resin and the illuminated schlock. Overall, I was astounded at the prices being changed. Eventually, I turned on something else and never ordered a thing.

I too thought the 2 TSV pumpkins were a tad high so I passed but now I'll watch for them to be returned for as is or clearence. Everything usually hits as is & I've got numerous things at "better for me" price. Yrs ago VPH had a large canister type thing with floral cut out sides. The top has a bird attached. It's my favorite thing from her line and I got the creamy white so I can switch to any holiday with a bow. It has a timer candle inside that flickers and I do think I get more compliments for it than any of my decor.

I'm watching for pumpkins in the blue jean color. Wish me luck 🍀

*disclaimer- I've no idea what this thing is called so I call it a large canister. I'm positive I'm wrong. It's also not named creamy white for its color, I just have no clue bc I bought it so long ago. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I see cute stuff at Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, etc all the time. My issue is there are no timers on the stuff. My rule is no timer, no buy. I know stuff on the Q has timers. So for me it is worth the price.

You can buy timers to place on any electrical product.  I have them all over my house.  We go away quite often and my lamps are all on timers.

I have them at our summer place too so it looks like the place is occupied.

At Christmas time, all my outdoor and window lights are on timers.

They are not expensive and easy to set up.  Some of mine have remote controls as well, so I can just turn them on or off at will.  I can even use the remote to control the lights upstairs without climbing the stairs. They are a great invention.

I have a ton of plug-in timers. Mine are all wifi and controlled by the App or Alexa. I have them all labeled A, B, C, D, etc. In the app, they are coordinated. It makes setting them up so easy. I tend to use the same ones year to year for the same things. I just plug whatever in the timer and it is already set up.

I am talking about battery-operated things. I never remember to turn stuff on/off.

QVC absolutely sets the price. Valerie, Martha, etc. do not set the price QVC uses to sell an item to their customers. For the most part, the personality (Val, Martha, Lori) make a percentage of what is sold. When it is a rep, I believe the vendor pays the rep a percentage.

I heard Dennis Basso say that Q buys the item from him and they set the price. It happened when Katrina had her show one night. They had a sale price and Dennis was shocked at the price. He said well they own it and can set whatever price they want.

🤔 Valerie isn't teaching me a thing about decorating that I don't already know from experience.

Her style is to overload, and convince you to buy it all if you want things to look ever so pretty, and make your home look exactly like Casa Parr-Hill.

I want my home decorated for Christmas, or any other holiday, tastefully, and not overdone. Whether new or old, I prefer items that have special meaning and happy memories for family and dear friends. When people enter, I want them to know that there is a family who lives here, gathered together to celebrate love and closeness, to celebrate what Christmas is all about.

I don't ever want someone to walk into my home, and think that this place looks like just another Christmas gift shop.

methinks the lady doth protest too much.

You have nothing positive to say about so many things on the Q. You sure seem to spend a lot of time watching.

Yeah, you for your decorating style. Just because yours is different than so many others doesn't make yours any better. Obviously, Val sells a lot. She has a lot of sellouts and has lasted 30 years here at the Q.
