Perhaps the host was given the wrong color pallette, perhaps the item was tossed in at the last minute, and just maybe she drew a blank.

If people cant tell the colors on TV or online buying from a shopping channel may not be for them.

It must be very stressful being perfect on a daily basis.  I wouldnt know.

This isn't about being perfect, its called doing your job!  I wish people would stop making excuses for incompetence.

There is a particular host that all she does is look over the rim of her glasses and constantly removes them, then puts them back on. How she is employed is beyond me.....

@Imaoldhippie What an odd response to a post. The host has to be able to tell us what we can't do which is see, and feel the item. Color translates different on different televisions, so it is important for them to nail the description.

How is that expecting someone to be perfect? The expectation is for them to be prepared.

         Exactly!!  No one is perfect, but being perfect or imperfect is not the issue.  It is being prepared or unprepared when you do your job!!!

I agree with what many others have said here.  I saw the color debacle this morning.    Strange names for colors are one thing, (not the case this AM), but it only shows how unprepared you are when this is a surprise to you.   The ones who dont do their homework are obvious and it is very frustrating they don't seem to care that they haven't prepared properly for their shows.    There is no contrived  excuse  for these hosts because it happens to certain ones over and over.

I agree.  In clothing, color is one of the most important considerations in buying.  The hosts used to be very good about going into great detail about color, shades, patterns, etc. when they were describing the items.  Now, you're lucky if they even mention color or show each one for half a second.  Half of them are too busy jabbering about other totally unrelated subjects.  Although there are still a few hosts (not all of them the older ones either) that still do a decent job of descriptions.

When purchasing through tv or online, colors can be deceiving.  When you look in person at a store, you can see for yourself if it's what you want.  In my opinion, this is another area that QVC has dropped the ball.  They still have an advantage over online retailers in that they do have an "in person" person to explain the aspects of products we as buyers don't have the advantage of seeing/feeling/knowing.  Even if the hosts idea of shade is different than mine, I have a better idea if I want the item if it's a "bluish red" or an "orangey red".

Part of the problem are many of the silly goofy names they come up with for various items.  How about "pink", "blue", etc. instead of the complicated names that hosts can't even tell which belongs to which item.  Makeup lines often do this too.

@geezerette

I love your comment about the silly goofy color names!  What about grand canyon orange or rat grey?

@StopTalking

I think she comes in a day before to pick out her glasses and pose with them down her nose.  If they took her glasses, I sincerely believe she couldn't host a show.

Of course, everyone can have an off day, but when there's confusion and indifference in many of this host's presentations, I think the viewers get frustrated.  Dan Hughes is color blind, but he doesn't use that as an excuse not to know product colors.  He memorizes the color names in order so he can give an effective presentation.  In other words, he's doing his job.  The host that can't bother to learn colors should watch old Jill Bauer segments.  She'd give specific details of every product.  When I see a host being unprepared every time she's on, I turn her off because she doesn't care about her viewers.  Again, QVC should expect more from their employees.  Katie McGee was always strongly prepared, but she was expendable,
