Dan Hughes Posts About Carolyn Gracie's Return to QVC

For those interested in Dan's Facebook comments he posted.

Apparently some people let him know they are angry at Carolyn for returning to a place that laid her off.  Dan gave his thoughts....

"Not a late night rant ...just a comment. It's a tad bit after 3:00 AM here and I am just finishing another 18 hour day with a rewrite and last minute changes to my latest book. I posted yesterday with a simple birthday greeting to my mother in law and for some it became an opportunity to comment on Carolyn Gracie and her decision to return to QVC as a vendor with her own line of plants and garden items. I promise I am not being argumentative here.
I fully support her decision to have done so. There are some who for whatever reason were angered by that decision. Neither Carolyn or myself were happy with QVC' decision to have let us go last March but I can assure you.... anyone who has ever worked in TV lives in constant fear the job will one day go away. I know after many long conversations with here over the months we both feel blessed to have had so many of you who sent words of kindness our way during what has been challenging times financially and introspectively.
With that said I also have come to see some truths in life. Nothing is guaranteed. Her continued passion for gardening is real. Her decision to create her own product line was brave. Her decision to take it to QVC...was smart. It is where she is best known and where her following came from. Will QVC potentially benefit from her creations ...yes. We all live in a world of big corporations now days and all companies make decisions based on the bottom line.
I hope and pray her line is a huge success. I wish all good people success. QVC has had some financially troubles times lately with declining cable subscribers etc. etc. but there are still many good people who work there. People both Carolyn and myself will always count as life long friends. Support her. Inventors and product developers feed a lot of people other than just themselves. They always have.
I am not quite sure why QVC passed on my proposed line of hair care products ...(I'm bald...that was a joke..) but I wish her and all vendors success. Both her and I dedicated a good portion of our lives to selling other peoples products and helping them to achieve the American dream. This is her time in the sun and she deserves it.
Okay maybe it was a bit of a rant but there you have it."

That is an interesting post. It sounds like both of them have found new endeavors.  Dan explained it all.

Well said Dan. Gracious post, and glad he did that.

I feel the same as far as Carolyn's choice...brave, wise, and why not?! I loved her gardening shows, because it's a true passion of hers, she brings joy to the presentations and I'm interested in seeing what she's brought to her line.

I also think she did this ~ created a company, found (or had mfrd) products, started her own brand, etc, in a pretty short frame of time, good for her. I wish her much success and look forward to watching her upcoming shows. 🌼🌱🌸🪴🌺

I mean, why burn a bridge that can serve her in a different way now, why not turn lemons to lemonade...and isn't "living well the best 'revenge'."

I did not interpret his post as bitter. He stated the facts and now we know what happened.

@Caaareful Shopper    Thanks for posting Dan's comments.  I doubt I would have seen them if that weren't here on the Forums.   I understand and agree with much of what Dan believes.  It's especially helpful to me that the comment comes from someone who himself has trod the same path.

I no longer have much planting space, but I will tune into check on Carolyn's line.  I have great respect for her knowledge - and she has a voice I can easily listen to!

Wow, didn't sound bitter, in the least, to me. Different perspectives.

Very nice of him to do that and support her new endeavor by responding to negative remarks, that she herself won't likely address. Good on him.

@Group 5 minus 1   I don't think bitter may be the right term.  However, Dan has posted multiple FB posts directing his quite candid attitude towards QVC since he's been gone.  He has a standard phrase, "that company that fired me after giving it 30 years..."

At least it's his honest feelings.  I respect that.  But sometimes it's best to not post everything you feel online for it to live forever.

@Caaareful Shopper   Thanks so much for sharing this post.   I just knew neither of them could've possibly been happy about being let go.  Both talked about expensive purchases whether in the form of homes, rv's, renovations etc.  There's just no way most people with monthly bills and obligations would ever be fine with losing their jobs.
