@Drythe     so sorry for your painful loss. what a blessing you were to each other!!

its weird, my story is very similar to yours. a year and half ago i rescued a stray in the neighborhood. i saw him around the whole summer before but he had a collar on and so I figured he belonged to someone close by. then as it got colder in Fall he started hanging out at a friends house where she would leave food out for strays. i said no to her when she asked if i wanted another cat. i would see him in her yard though at times. He surprised us both how tame and friendly he was even around dogs.

then one day i decided to walk over with her to see him and as soon as i came in his view he grabbed onto my leg with all his might as if to say please please help me!!

that was it, i decided to take him and he has been like no other cat ive had.

he talks to me every time i see or touch him. he puts his paw on my arm all the time and snuggles with his head right on my pillow! he is in my lap each time i sit. he reaches up on his hind legs and stretches his paws as high as he can to hug me or just say he wants something. no cat has ever acted like this to me.

he was a real handful at first and many problems to the point I didnt think i could keep him but so glad i did! always stick with a pet no matter the bad times. it will be soooo worth it in the end. it was for me and this loving stray who was just tossed on the street with a collar, spayed, and declawed, to fend for himself!    HeartHeartHeart

I wanted to send you more good wishes during this time, dear @Drythe

I know it's hard, and I know you've been dealing with other things, too.

So, for what it's worth, I'm sending you whatever comfort a post like this can bring.

Somehow this quote seemed fitting:

Thank you for your kind words.  I am glad that Spike is no longer struggeling, he put up a brave fight on so many occasions.  Selfishly, I want him here with me, and I don't think that hurt is going to leave anytime soon.

Again thank you.

You are so correct that Spike and I were blessed.  Just the fact that we found one another in the midst of the Katrina aftermath is amazing. Add to that I live 1800 miles from NO, and that he survived a wall of toxic water, well ... I know you are right, we WERE ment to be togrther.

I am and always have been so grateful for every moment we had together, and am happy to know that you have had your own special relationships.

I appreciate your kind words.  I do miss him very much, but I make a promise to our animals that I will always try to act in their own best interests.

Thank you.

I love your siggy.   Spike is a wonderful boy, and I was blessed with the time we had together. His love has been a wonderfully special gift that helped me heal some old pains.
