i am sorry that you have lost your sweet and handsome Mickey. He gave you his warmth and companionship, and you made the hardest sacrifice by knowing when to let him go. May wonderful memories of your boy eventually bring you peace and even smiles as time passes. (((Hugs)))

@moon_gazer What a handsome dog your Mickey is. I have walked in your shoes and remember the grief and heartbreak. I'm so sorry that you had to part with him and send him over the rainbow bridge.

There are no words of mine that will ease the pain in your heart, I wish there were. I am so sad for the loss of your sweet love.
So, I will just say that Mickey will always love you, be with you, be happy for the wonderful life you gave him, and be grateful for the last hardest gift of letting him go.
I hope that soon the happy memories will help ease the pain of loss. With all my heart I believe that you and Mickey will be together again.

@moon_gazer I am so sorry. Losing my precious girl was the hardest thing that has happened in my life, so I can empathize with your sorrow and tears. It is heart wrenching to have to make that decision. There are just no words that describe or soothe the pain. I know your world has changed. Sending much love and solace during this challenging time.

I am sorry for you and Mickey. I know your heart is hurting, and there is nothing I can do, but know I feel your loss.

Your MIckey had the eyes of an old soul--I can see how he had (and has) a hold on your heart. That's where he's lived all along, and that's where he'll always reside.
Here's a poem by Jim Willis that I always have loved about the bond between dog and dog parent. I hope it brings you some comfort:
So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.
Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.
