Re: Question About Graduation Party Situation

What a kind and thoughtful gesture. I disagree about an Amazon card because unless the niece is a Prime member, a lot of the amount will be eaten up by tax and shipping.

A Visa gift card that can be used online or in person or some cash might be better.

A gift card or cash would make a nice gift.

Perfect!  Sometimes, a gift isn't expected at all, which will make it all the more a surprise to the recipient.  I wouldn't expect a gift in the situation you described.  But, if someone thought to bring one it makes it all the more special. The unexpected, that is fun.

Out go to gift to people outside of our immediate family is an Amazon Gift Card that you can print out right at home.

It has always been greatly appreciated and can be used to purchase just about anything.

You raised her right, @beach-mom.  I agree that a gift is in order.  It doesn't have to be extravagant, but a kind recognition of the graduate's accomplishments.

I think gofts in this case are really appreciated, and remembered as well.   I always bring a small gift to events such as this, where I don't know recipient.  But, I do know the party giver.   I enjoy it, especially kids graduations.  It is really appreciated, and unexpected

No offense but it's a no brainer that attending a celebration  is also bringing a gift, whether monetary or a physical one.

Came to say the same thing; not even sure how this is even a question. You are invited  to a graduation party, doesn't matter how well you know the person being honored, you give them a gift. The OP's 'friend' doesn't know what she's talking about.

I don't understand why anyone would question taking a gift.

This is a celebration. Your dd should take a gift and go enjoy the party.
