One more thing, if you have a glass top stove, I don't think you are suppose to use a stovetop pressure cooker.

I have a 4qt round, hard anodized , electric pressure cooker. I use it often for just about everything. Hard anodized is scratch resistant so I can use metal utensils. It is also safe to use and doesn't give off any harmful fumes as other non stick does. I bought mine from Qvc at least 7 years ago.It was the Techniques brand.
So you need to decide what size you want; there are many sizes out there. My 4 qt feeds my family of 3 nicely. In fact I used it yesterday to cook a 4 lb whole chicken. Also remember, altho it does speed up cooking times, you still have to prep the food and that sometimes takes more time than the actually cooking process. Also most of the pressure cookers are non-stick so that is another consideration. Stainless steel would be my next choice as I am trying to get away from all non stick with the coating, in all my cookware. Bob Wardens pressure cooker books are excellent to start with. There is a leaning curve, so start out with an easy recipe and work up. I cook pasta and rice and veg and meats and soups all the time. Haven't tried any cheesecakes tho. But I will.
So do your research online and don't be afraid to spend more for the one you like. It's worth it. As for cooking on a glass top stove with one, I cook everything on my glass top stove with no problem. But not a stove top p/c. I think its the weight of the thing and that you may drop it and crack the stove top that is the worry. Good luck!

It won't quit working as long as your stove works and you can put the entire thing in the dishwasher. You will make meals fast. They will be moist and taste just like you've done them in a crockpot.I have used a stove top model for fifty years with great success. I also have an electric and always hold my breath as to whether it's going to operate correctly. There's a lot to be said for the stove top; it always cooks as it should.
