My coworker years ago who is Asian introduced me to her stir fry recipe and insisted I try jasmine rice.  If you haven't tried it, it's delicious.  The scent while it's cooking, the taste is different than plain rice, too.  My husband now only wants that type of rice when I do stir fry.  

We don't eat many potatoes (he likes baked and I could pass on them).  Growing up, my mom only made boiled or mashed potatoes.  In the 60's we didn't eat frozen anything - it was either real or canned.  No frozen fries.  When DH and I were dating, he came over for Thanksgiving (47 years ago this year!).  He came from a big family with 5 brothers so his mom only made instant potatoes (I never had those).  When he tasted my mom's potatoes, that was it - only real mashed potatoes from then on.  We only eat them in the winter at the holidays with beef or chicken.  He makes the gravy from scratch.

I prefer potatoes 🥔 but don't eat many these days.

I love potatoes.  I like rice, too, but DH hates it, so we rarely make it.

Potatoes, no contest. If you've never had freshly dug potatoes, scrubbed and steamed, with a bit of salt and butter, you haven't tasted potatoes.

Potatoes for me, too. I'm part Asian and us kids were raised on rice. I still like to eat steamed white rice but have since replaced that with quinoa and amaranth.
