It's interesting reading the different opinions about why some think it's a good value and some  don't and why some would rather cook their own and others are glad not to have to cook.  Would be nice if everyone enjoyed reading about this and not attacking another poster for their  viewpoint.

Yes, and some people just like to argue for the sake of it.   And they just can't seem to let it go.   So tiresome.

Where is that "ignore" button, QVC????   It would make reading the forum so much more pleasant.

People often freak out when they read facts that contradict their opinion then pull the “argumentative’ card because they know that the person they disagree with is right.  Instead of realizing that they’re wrong and quietly backing down, they lash out and start demanding ignore buttons and calling people names like ‘tiresome’ or ‘troll.’ Instead of accepting that the forums are a place for many to exchange information, they believe it should be a safe haven for them to make stuff up and expect others to blindly accept it.  I’m sure it’s not fun to realize, after posting a reply, that you haven’t  posted something that’s totally factual, but to dismiss, mock or name-call the contributor who sets the record straight will not make you right.

I can go to the local butcher and get the same turkey breast for much less. Herb butter is very easy to make, and if you make a large batch, it can be frozen. The sides are ridiculously priced. I just looked at the sides without the turkey breast, and they are being sold for $52 for mashed potatoes and macaroni? Come on Martha.

Youre paying for for the convenience, but you still have to cook the darn thing.

Even with a butcher shop turkey breast, I can make an entire dinner for under $100. With more sides, that are FRESH, and with less sodium too.

@RedHeadedWench------Although I did purchase the MS dinner, I absolutely agree that the price for the 2 side dishes was ridiculous. Throw in the Brie for $60 for under 2 lbs and ,to me, you've got a "are you kidding me ?" moment.

@Danky

I hope your dinner is delicious! I look forward to seeing the reviews of this turkey breast.

@gizmogal

Seriously?  You think 4 lbs. of sides and that 4.5 lb. turkey would feed 8-12 peeps?  Not for my family.

Most people take between 3-4 slices of turkey.  And those trays are smaller than you think.  They would probably handle 3 people in my family.

I thought $100 for a turkey you have to cook is wayyyy over priced.  This meal is good for a 2 person home.  Not 8-12 people, especially if you have teens.

Well, 8-12  might be stretching it, but I have never seen anyone take  4 slices of turkey at Thanksgiving dinner....  of course all families are different, and I suppose that it dependsds on how many side dishes are served..

And of course how thin the slices of turkey are too!

4 lbs of turkey breast is 64 ounces, right? even if someone takes double the  "normal" 4 ounce portion, (certainly there is nothing normal about  Thanksgiving portions) and takes a half pound each (8 ounces) then it would still feed 8..

In the presentation, they said it would feed 6-8.

I have a great solution, dont buy it.  Dont complain about if it is not your money.  I myself order seafood from Alaska, and pay a great amount of money to have it delivered.  Imo, since our local store no longer sells wild fish, it os worth it.  And it is a whole lot cheaper and fresher than buying whole foods.  I pay over 20 bucks a lb for wild, fresh sushi grade tuna.  We make poke, sashimi so it has to be quality.  I pay 24@lb for wild coho salmon   To me it is worth It. To others, not so much.

i bought Marthas turkey roast and sides and am looking forward to it.  It it tastes good, and i dont have to cook, plan, shop.....it is worth it.  To each, their own.

some are masters ar cooking a roast, and love doing it.  I admire that too.

@RedHeadedWench------very early observation about the MS turkey TSV

which arrived today. I will not be cooking it for a week or so but, IMO, the sides are very, very small. In fact, I thought a box of one of them might be missing. It will not be enough for any 4 people I know. Based on that alone, I cancelled my auto ship.
