I don’t like a lot of bread either (plus white bread is not good for you). I use 1 piece of bread on the bottom and a lettuce leaf as my top piece.

An extra 1/4 inch of bread shouldn’t ruin your day

@scatcat   Don't know but I do know a lettuce leaf on top would surely run my day!

ROFL You learn something new every day. I make my own bread, so, I'm not giving that up. LOL Life is too short. I can go light whole wheat, but, those darker breads guess birds will eat. They're good , though, if your constipated.

@SharkE We recently bought the newest model of the Zojiushi big bread machine and it makes really really good whole wheat bread, even on the quick cycle.  First of the four machines I have had that really does a super job of wheat.

Unfortunately there is not a red version. . . Woman Sad  Woman Wink

@SharkE  Do you make whole wheat in it?  I have no idea why but in this new machine the loaves rise so nicely and cook so much better. And they don't have that bitter edge so much.   But my "old" Zo was really old!  Of course now I want the new little one too!  But $$$!

I ordered some mix in stuff from King Arthur to give it some crunch and will report back when I try it!

Just finished a slice of this toasted. Love it!  Sold at Costco in a 2-pack for $1 more than 1 loaf of same at Whole Foods. It isn't marked Thin Sliced but the slices are quite thin and good sandwich bread. Delicious, healthy and I love the crunch.

But that is the problem with buying any bread at Costco. The packages contain two loaves. By the time I get through the first loaf the second loaf is expired or has mold. At least at Sam's you can buy one loaf.

I don't do Wonder Bread.  Not for more years than I can count.  We get whole wheat bread from our bakery or one of Arnold's whole wheat breads.

I freeze both and take slices out 5 minutes before I want to eat/toast them. They hold up very well, very fresh. Maybe because they are so hardy with whole grains and not fluff and air like Wonder Bread; I can't even consider that food.
