I'm kinda SHORT... I'd have to put the pot on the seat of a chair.

I used mine yesterday when I made mashed potatoes. I always smash them first before I use the electric mixer.
Mine gets used a lot. Mine is not an antique, but is probably from when I first got married 50 years ago.

Last Thursday......and the mashed potatoes were delicious 😋
I have no idea how old my potato masher is but I know I've had it for a long time and it does a great job.

@Ronettes @sunshine45 My masher is the same style as the one pictured. It is a piece from my set of Ecko stainless steel utensils that I have been using since 1963. They still look like new and they have had a lot of use , cooking all those years for a family of seven.
I have never used a mixer for potatoes. The thought never occurred to me, I want them mashed, not whipped. I also use the masher for squash.

I have never used an electric mixer for mashed potatoes. Don't like the consistency of potatoes done with a mixer. As others have mentioned, it doesn't taste as "homemade" to me. My potato masher is no antique, but it's the same basic design as @ECBG 's antique from the wall.

@ECBG I have my moms masher just like that one. She had it from her wedding in 1947. She used it all my life. Still in great shape. I like my potatoes mashed and not smooth from an electric hand held mixer. I enjoy the surprise lumps. Gives the potatoes character.

I have my mom's but I can't think of when the last time I made mashed potatoes was. Neither of us like them.

I use mine often.

I use it to mash bananas when I make banana nut bread or muffins. Mine looks similar to the one @Ronettes & @sunshine45 posted.

Hi, @ECBG ! I actually use mine every time i make homemade marinara in my crockpot. I start with whole peeled roma tomatoes in the can and use the potato masher to break up the whole tomatoes. Add my other ingredients, let it cook and blend it to chunky or smooth with my stick blender.
