Re: What's your favorite fish to buy at the store?

i generally dont buy fish at a grocery store. we have some good seafood markets in our area and i go there. i tend to buy flounder, orange roughy, rockfish, cod, and sea bass. those are my favorites. i also love shrimp and blue crabmeat.

I like salmon but don't often buy it. Just wondering, why do people prefer wild caught over farm raised?

Wild has a better flavor. Farm raised are in close quarters and ingest their own.............{#emotions_dlg.scared}

Love fish. In order of preference:

Orange Roughy broiled w/butter, lemon and spinach (high in mercury content so eat it rarely)

Wild Salmon

Lobster

Mahi Mahi

Smoked Herring

Sardines

Also love shrimp; in fact, had shrimp for dinner this evening.

Re: What's your favorite fish to buy at the store?

I love fish, and am so lucky to live by the Pacific where we can get fresh fish! I love wild Alaskan Salmon . I LOVE Halibut, but it is so expensive. Luckily the Halibut season is short I don't have time to feel deprived! It runs almost 20 bucks a pound though, but it melts in my mouth . I also love Trader Joe's Mahi Mahi, frozen and vacuum sealed. We grill it on the gas grill. I season it, put a little panko on it, and my husband mixes coconut oil and butter in the pan before grilling it. It makes a great fish sandwich, but I prefer it plain.

I love the huge tiger prawns as well and Japanese scallops. Then there is Lobster......

Fresh wild salmon and sole. Neither really goes with cole slaw. I havemy own variation of sole meunière.

Wild-caught has better flavor and more nutritional benefits. Farm-raised salmon has a poorer diet which means not as healthful for people. Farm-raised is usually color-enhanced; wild-caught's rich color is from the healthful diet and lifestyle.
