Re: What's on your Xmas list ?

[ Edited ]

I think I must be in the minority but I've never minded getting new items for our home as Christmas gifts.

I'm happy that we were able to purchase a home and I appreciate gifts that either enhance our home or make my life easier.   One year my husband bought me a 6 qt Kitchen-Aid stand mixer.   I always thought they were too expensive and was happy with my portable hand mixer.  He knew that I always admired the Kitchen-Aid mixer that his mother had so he decided to surprise me with one of my own.  I was thrilled.

Over the years he has gotten me a few personal gifts but the best ones have always been something for our home.

The past few weeks he has been busy building a gazebo to go over our hot tub.  That will be our Christmas gift for this year.

Like a few others have stated, we also purchase what we want throughout the year and don't wait until Christmas.

Going out to a nice dinner on Christmas eve means more to me than gifts under the tree.   Of course this year our Christmas eve will consist of take-out and then driving around to look at the lights.

Don't give me a frying pan.

Amen! DH is a slow learner, 2 years in a row he bought me something for the house.

I recommend that u choose ur own Christmas gift -- and not leave it to ur husband.

Absolutely nothing.   I have reached the point where enough is enough.

I have spent my 7 years of retirement "right sizing" my life.   I have just the right amount of everything I need in any category you can name, and am satisfied with that.

I can't think of a thing, really. I did ask DH for a pee-wee size football, so I can play w/ my DGS. I got him one that size, but he has it over at his house.

Re: What's on your Xmas list ?

I used to indulge a bit from myself to myself especially with a Christmas Eve birthday.  Have not done a gift to myself for either day since I turned 48 eleven years ago.  Do not see it changing for #59.  Maybe 2021 when I turn 60.
