@Free2be have you priced mincemeat this year.? it's always been spendy, haven't looked this year yet.
i'm exhausted, made double batches of my famous rocky road candy, 2 pumpkin chiffon pies. they are to die for. still working on those, and then have to make a corn pudding to take to the neighbors house tomorrow.
lots of cooking for me. don't cook that much for dh and myself anymore.

@KingstonsMom Well I'm way up in WA state and we love it up here, too, I've been making it for my family since the 1980s. It's the crust that makes it so good, I think -- the sweet and salty. And the fruit and the cream cheese. Oh yes, all of it. haha.

@kittyloo No, I might look later on. Last time I made one I could only find a pricier brand that I didn't like as much as a store brand. It's been so long I'm not sure I'll be able to find a store brand.

My favorite!
ETA: Mincemeat pie and coffee in the morning are wonderful, now I am craving them.
@Free2be Marie Callenders used to make the most wonderful mince pies! We would order and pick up on the day. Boy do we miss those!

I bought four large pumpkins yesterday and made two pumpkin pies today. There is quite a lot of pumpkin purée in the freezer now for my Christmas pies.
I also made an apple pie. I usually make one every weekend, but my DH always requests one for holidays too. It's one of his favorite desserts.
My favorite is pecan pie , but no one else likes it, so I will eat the extra pumpkin pie mixture that I baked In custard cups. I am not in the mood to make gluten free pie crust for pecan pie that no one will eat but me.

I love strawberry pretzel salad! It's big here in the South (GA) during the holidays!
I think we need that recipe !!!!

@Big Joanie I gave away the cookbook that had my favorite recipe for the strawberry pretzel salad so I followed one I found at the website:
Butter with a Slice of Bread
The recipes on the web are all pretty similar. I adapt it to lower sugar by using s/f jello, lite Cool Whip, even though I don't like s/f anything, it's for my diabetic spouse's preference.

I made my Mom's fudge cake, which I'll serve with ice cream, and Impossible Pumpkin Pie, which I'll serve with homemade whipped cream. I got the pumpkin pie recipe on the back of a QVC Christmas card many years ago.

@Eileen in Virginia When you aren't too busy, would you mind posting this? I had one a zillion years ago, but haven't seen it in a long time! I had forgotten about it.
