Please know I would love to be able to enjoy salmon but I have never had it prepared that it was a good experience for me (along with a lot of other seafood dishes).  I told my doctor I would rather starve to death than eat salmon and he laughed out loud as he said I could have lunch with his wife . . . maybe it's a midwest thing . . . Smiley Happy

@Laura14 @momtochloe  My Dad was a chef, and fisherman.  He would take me with him at the crack of dawn to fish off SF pier, I stayed in the car until later.  He would catch crabs, and when we got home, he would chase my Mother and me around with the crabs, I don't approve, and then prepare crab cioppino, dump it onto newspaper with a stack of paper towels, and what a feast we had!  I love all shellfish and prepare it through the year.

There were no crabs last season, heartbreaking, as our Christmas Eve dinner is always marinated cracked crab with crusty garlic bread.  I prepared a pot of mussels instead.

@mousiegirl  Our dads must know each other!  My father was the crab king.  I did like going crabbing but not those little creatures chasing me afterwards!!  Smiley Surprised

Now that's a Christmas dinner!  I'm telling you we need to get you on David's Cookbook Corner.   Our family sometimes did smelts because it's Italian tradition (obviously not me) but, in my lifetime, it's been turkey and some type of pasta.  You eat better!

Oh goodness @mousiegirl what awesome cuisine you grew up with!  I had the pleasure of visiting the SF area many years ago and loved every second of it.  So many different things to see, whiff and taste . . . loved it!

@momtochloe  Maybe.  I'm constantly threatening to move to Iowa because I love that state so maybe I got the Midwest gene too!

@Laura14 I love Iowa!  My ex's kids live there and I loved every single second I spent there, great place to live!

@Laura14 @momtochloe  DH was born and raised in Iowa and couldn't wait to get out as it was so cold in the Winter.  His Aunt and Unclce went to Arizona for the winter every year, lol.

We visited Iowa decades ago, and the humidity was awful.  I drank so much iced tea.  It took me a while to realize why I wasn't able to sleep, too much iced tea, lol.

@momtochloe  Don't tempt me!!  I hate the South and I am just waiting to be fired or finally quit in earnest so I can pack up my little car and hit the road.  Smiley Happy

@momtochloe  We didn't live in SF, so it was a long drive, but worth it. Smiley Happy

@mousiegirl  That's the only thing that frightens me a bit.  Winter.  I'm from Jersey so I get the seasons and miss them but I know the Midwest is a whole other level.

Humidity I love!  I went to college in Louisiana in a non-airconditioned dorm.  Humidity is my friend.   My hair's not so much.

Oh @Laura14, my hair and I took a vote a long time and agreed we couldn't survive in the south.  I start sweating at 70 degrees for heavens sake . . . Smiley Sad

@Laura14  I never knew what humidity was until my late twenties when I went to Mexico.  I asked DH on the plane, but I didn't understand it until the plane door opened.  I didn't breathe again until I hit SF airport, cool air once again

The last five or so years, we have experienced humity here, fortunately, this year we had marvelous, normal weather, no humidity.

@momtochloe  It's still 80 degrees in Georgia and it's November!!!  I'm over it!

@mousiegirl  I went to SF one time and loved the city.  Froze my butt off and it was August!  Cool air is right.

@Laura14  Due to the climate change in the world, it is not as cold as it once was, and not cold in the Summer, and where I live, it is cold in the mornings and evenings, but the sun is out during the day.  Of course at this time of year, it will continue to cool off, but it is definitely Fall here now.
