What's Cooking in April 2020?

Another month beginning already? The time just does not sit still any more does it?

Yesterday I went and got food from Bob's Big Boy. We are so lucky to have one - a super restaurant. Several years back they all closed and one opened right here where I live after about 10 years - unbelievable. I think of my Mother. She LOVED that place and each weekend would ask me if I were going to Mervyn's. I always told her yes as I knew it was Bob's she wanted to go go and get her special sandwich I cannot think of the name of it but she loved it. At that time Mervyns and Bob's were both in Redlands about one block apart. She would be so happy to get over to a Bob's Big more within about a one minute drive from here. LOL.

Have no clue what we are going to eat today but will manage.

Hope all are having a good start to your day. Pooky1 I would move your message to here but I do not know how or even if I could do that

Re: What's Cooking in April 2020?

I used to love Bob's Big Boy for breakfast, talk about a blast from the past. I had no clue any were left.

I made chipotle chicken tostadas last night. I only had low carb wheat tortillas so I baked them, they didn't taste the best but it worked. I'm running out of food so I'm using what's left. I'll probably go shopping Friday.

Thank you vabreeze - much appreciated.

We are so lucky to have a Bob's Big Boy right here. It does a good business and they are right there for you on preparing take out meals.

When we were kids in the 60s our mom would take us there ...you could eat inside or car they had car hops. I remember the free comics and ordering the fudge ice cream in the tall stainless steel tulip dish. It tasted like a Fudgesicle.

Not sure how many Bob;s Big Boys are still here. It originally opened nearby and then in San Bernardino a few minute drive from here McDonald's opened. Well I have never liked that place. But Bob's - always have loved it.

Today is a yukky day - not cold but chilly and looks as if it will rain. Say a prayer it does not.

\Have a great day everyone.

Re: What's Cooking in April 2020?

Somehow I hurt my back yesterday - that is all I needed. I NEVER have aching much of anything. well now I do. Am miserable.

So what for dinner - not really sure at this point. Still had some frozen dinners so that was dinner yesterday. Worked like a charm.

Have a big pork roast I bought yesterday but will not be able to handle it by myself. Well there is David and his Mother here - hopefully they will pitch in and actually help a bit. LOL. They can do that very well but those two also have a strain of Miss Piggy in them.  We shall see.

Took David with me yesterday morning - and we did well on our errands.

Birds will continue to be well fed - thank goodness - found bread and everything else I needed. Wow! Glad Davey is a BIG boy and very strong. But was so pleased I did not have to run everywhere. Got most of what I needed at the small WM in Redlands, then went to Aldi's for the pork and bagels, then CVS because it was close to Aldi's, for Alleve. So often lately you have to drive here and there to try and find things.

Have now solved how I find large garbage bags and tall kitchen bags and also the small baggy containers. Ordered them from Home Depot on Thursday and they came yesterday - could not believe that. That was fast!!!

So will sweat out my aching back - it is miserable. Have a great day one and all.

Re: What's Cooking in April 2020?

Our supper was chopped sirloin, rice, brown gravy, and green beans.

Tomorrow is baked chicken, roasted vegetables, and pickled eggs and beets.

I am not familiar with Bob's Big Boy. Is it owned by the same company as Shoneys Big Boy (in West Virginia) and Frisch's Big Boy (in Ohio)?
