Re: What's Cooking for March 2020

Teacher daughter prepared steaks, baked potatoes and salad for our supper, AND, she did the dishes!

@Pooky1

Hi.  Did your wife make cornbread in a slow cooker?  If yes, would you mind sharing Maria's recipe?  Boy I would love to be your next-door neighbor!  You guys eat good stuff all the time.

vabreeze. i had baked cornbread in the oven and she had to cut corn bread up and baked it again to get crispy then everything went in slow cooker. but we thought it would have come better if she baked the meal in the oven instead of in the slow cooker. if you still want recipe i will give it to you.

Re: What's Cooking for March 2020

Thanks, @Pooky1 , for your reply.  I have been on a search for a cornbread recipe that isn't sweet and not cake-like in texture.  If your recipe is for the savory, denser version I seek, by all means I would appreciate you providing. it.  Thank again.

Re: What's Cooking for March 2020

Not stopped by any too much - trying to keep my head above water - so to speak. This virus is horrible. As of Thursday night those of us in California are limited as to where we can go and do -  only fair but I am heartbroken just how many people are binge buying leaving many without. Pretty darn bad. And I blame the companies first and foremost for not limiting from day one. Criminals come in all sizes and shapes and sadly will probably find out as time goes by, some may be my neighbors. Also too many people not even attempting to do what is required. So sad

Needless to say my meals are super easy to do. This entire mess takes a toll on the brain "AND body - for sure.

Hope all are well and doing fine.

@RedTop :  I am not trying to hijack this thread but needed to ask you a question.  Awhile back you mentioned swabbing your nose with something that a kidney disease specialist had been telling his patients to use during flu season.  Could you tell me please?  Again, I am sorry for using this thread but didn't want one line for a new thread.

@Hoovermom,

Bacitracin or neosporin, just around the rim of each nostril, to help catch inhaled germs/bacteria.

And yes, this information was passed to my brother by his kidney specialist.   The doctor said he, and his staff, do this daily during flu season.

My husband and I do it when we leave the house for local appts here, or at the VA, and for grocery runs.

Thank you for remembering my post about this.

Re: What's Cooking for March 2020

hi everyone! Weather horrible here in Sou Cal - along with living in a self made prison.LOL. I understand some - perhaps most - of the restrictions however some are a bit much.

Am fixing low work meals - energy level just not there for much else but at the same time we are eating well.

I am having to go to the store - what a nightmare. Some store have hours for we old coots but they let anyone in and so there has been NO advantage. Oh well.

Keep eating well and stay healthy.

Special hello to you pooky1 and Maria!
