We had nice dinners every night.  All the women (and some men) in my family were great cooks.  

I love to cook, too.  But for some reason, Mom's always tastes better.  

Hard to explain, but she can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich taste different.  It's just better, even though it's the same ingredients, I can't understand it!

For fast food, I liked the Happy Meal - because it came with a toy!

My alltime favorite was the roast beef hash my Grandmother made. After roasting a cut of beef, she would grind the leftovers into fine pieces, combine with mashed potatoes & leftover gravy, then fry to a light skin of browned surface on both sides. To die for! At Christmas she made Danish apple cake in a white wash basin reserved for that use only. It was always served with freshly whipped cream. She never served small pieces - omg!

Since she was from Denmark, and had a pair of very large hands, I could never make it as good as she did for the recipe was a handful of this and that - never saw a measuring cup.

Old memories are so sweet. We never realized how good we had it then.

I loved (and still do!) my mom's spaghetti with meatballs.

Not really as a small child , my boyfriends Mom made it the first time I ate it.Yum ! Especially Reubens.

I had a Aunt like that ,she always Doctored things up. She could make Spagetti O"s taste Gourmet.

White Castle burgers.

When the family moved from KY to Houston, I was heartbroken to find there were no White Castles.
